What do you do? Depends on if I'm the sick one or if DS is sick. Mostly stay home and relax.
Guilty? Nope.
Easy or hard? Easy. I leave a voicemail. I've worked places where it was hard though, and it sucked!
How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? Once a month to once every other month, it depends. Most of the time I use them when I really am sick, otherwise it's a doctor's appointment or something.
What do you do on your sick days? If I'm sick, lay in bed and sleep. If it's for a doctor's appointment, run errands and go to my appointment! I know, I'm boring.
Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? Yes, even if I am sick.
Is it easy at your job, or do they give you a hard time for calling in? They don't really give us a hard time about taking sick days, but they don't allow you to work from home if you're sick--which I think is stupid. It only encourages people to come to work sick because they don't want to use a sick day. Then they get me sick and I hate that.

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? Usually just one every 3 or 4 months.
What do you do on your sick days? If I am really really sick, like the flu or something I just lay around being miserable. If it's more of a mental health day, I just enjoy being lazy and watch TV in bed which I don't normally do. Today I called off for a bad headache and I am finally feeling better, so I might take the dog for a walk that we are dog-sitting.
Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? If I am truly sick then no....but if I could have gone in and I am just being a baby then I feel pretty guilty.
Is it easy at your job, or do they give you a hard time for calling in? Now it's easy because I have a nice boss. As long as you don't abuse it and have the time it's not a big deal. But with my old boss, she'd often act like I was a terrible employee for calling in once in six months.

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? Every other month or so. It used to be more frequent at my last job because it was a combo of "hate my job" and very little paid holidays.
What do you do on your sick days? I usually just veg out. Sit on the couch and watch stuff like Price Is Right.

Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? Generally no - since I rarely take them but one of my two sick days over the last 2 1/2 years was for a really bad hangover. I felt guilty at the time but I'm over it now. :-)

What do you do on your sick days? If I call out its because I really am sick and I sleep on the couch and watch bad reality all day.

Is it easy at your job, or do they give you a hard time for calling in? Its easy. I work in a research lab with a very flexible schedule. There is always someone to can take care of thing if its too important to wait until I get back.

Really easy, no hard time given. If it's month end or something, they know that it must be really bad to miss important days.

Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? I don't like taking them unless it's absolutely necessary but I still usually feel bad about not going in
Is it easy at your job, or do they give you a hard time for calling in? They are really understanding where I work. I just asked to take tomorrow off because I'm having a daycare debaucle and we are already short staffed and they gave it to me anyway.
How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? I rarely take a sick day, because it's hard to take off and I prefer to save sick days for maternity leave. I primarily take days off if my DS is sick. I work a school district schedule so have a lot of time off otherwise.
What do you do on your sick days? If I'm sick I'm in bed. If DS is sick I'm cleaning and making him feel comfortable.
Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? I do not feel guilty if I'm home for DS, because he ultimately is most important. If I'm taking a sick day for myself then I do feel guilty.

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? I only take sick days if I am actually sick or have a doctors appointment. I am hardly ever sick, but the past month has been terrible for me. Beginning of June I came down with Bronchitis and was dying on the couch for two days. Then, last week I was attacked by a dog so I had to take some sick time to go to doctor's appointments and what not. Fun month!

Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? Yes and no. I'm accessible via phone or email so I must feel some guilt or I wouldn't answer. However, because I'm still doing my job, I don't feel guilty when I get back to the office.

*We get 3 weeks of sick leave a year that roll over, and our supervisor has asked that we not come in until you've been fever/diarrhea/vomit free for 24 hours. When people still come in sick, I get angry. Everything about our jobs can be done from home or done by a co-worker. You don't get brownie points for sucking it up and coming in sick; all you've done is spread your nasty germs.

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? I try to put my dentist, family doctor and optometrist annual appointments in one day so I don't skip to much work. I do that because I have migraines often and I take a sick day every 8-10 weeks because of that.
What do you do on your sick days? Lay in bed while praying my migraine medication will work. If it doesn't, spend the rest of the day in bed trying not to cry. If it works, I relax in the living room.
Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? YES. I usually go to work in the morning even though I have a migraine, thinking it may pass. Then I usually leave 1-2 hours later... I also feel super guilty when I take a sick day and I start feeling better at the beginning of the afternoon, like I should go to work in the pm instead of catching up some rest... :S

Do you feel guilty for taking a sick day? Nope, but I only take them if I am actually too sick/contagious to work. My unit is really small and we count on each other a lot.
Is it easy at your job, or do they give you a hard time for calling in? They don't give me a hard time because they know I'm too sick to come in. Halfdead ICU nurses aren't much use, anyway. But the system we work for does put you on notice for more than 5 occurrences in a year [you can be out for a bunch of consecutive days and it's just one occurrence, tho, so it's not that harsh. And my friend who had brutal morning sickness got put on notice but she just had to work it out with her manager, they didn't penalize her.].

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? Maybe once every other month, for a mental health day. I don't get true sick very often. And I don't drink during the week enough to get a bad enough hangover to call in. I remember doing it once last year, but it was justified!

How often do you take a sick day/mental health day?
Never mental health days! I call in sick when I feel it is not appropriate for me to be there. I work in an operating room and many of the surgeries I scrub are 3-5 or more hours long. So I can't use the bathroom or blow my nose for extended periods of time. And every time I cough I am coughing right next to a sterile field. I have called off 3 times in 2 years and left early once.

It is pretty easy. However, if you have too many call ins you will be speaking to management!
I work on my sick days because my job sucks.
I went home sick one day because I nearly threw up in the bathroom, and I told my boss that I needed to go home because I didn't want anyone getting sick (I work in food service). She didn't want me to go but let me go. So I went home and rested for about an hour.
She then called me back begging me to come back in because she couldn't get anyone to cover me. I told her this wasn't fair to me and she burst into tears saying that I was right and she wished she had more managers like me because I was the one that is reliable. I went back in because I didn't want her to get so worked up, and I was feeling a little better anyway.
It's nice to know that she relies on me (pretty heavily, I might add), but to not get a sick day is just ridiculous.

I don't necessarily feel guilty I just worry the whole time about how my students are handling being with somebody new (I teach in an Autism classroom).

It is pretty easy to actually take the day in regards to asking off or going home, it is just very difficult to plan for it and make sure all your ducks are in a row for a sub.
How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? Rarely. I haven't been sick during the work week in probably 2 years. It's the prenatals, I think. I can't take mental health days anymore. There are too few people that work in our office so we don't have a sick leave policy.

October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos
November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues. Converted to freeze all due to lining issues. 2 blasts frozen on day 6!
January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues
April 2015: FET #2.1

How often? Not that often. Maybe once or twice a year.
What do you do? Depends on if I am using the sick day because I am sick, or because I have a doctor's appointment. If I am sick I usually lay on the couch all day. If it is for a doctors appointment I will go shopping before/after because I am already out and in town.
Guilty? Never. Nobody is stuck doing my work while I am gone. It just sits there waiting for me to get back.
Easy or hard? Easy. I just send my boss a text message or email. My boss is very laid back. I am lucky to have the job and boss I do.
How often do you take a sick day/mental health day? I'm a SAHW now, but when I was in the workplace, probably every 4-5 months.

Totally guilty, I rarely take them, only for ds now. It is harder because I can work from home, and they expect me to if I can. It's hard, because sometimes I am so sick that I need to just sleep, but I feel like I'm maybe well enough to sit behind a computer, even though I'm not.
I have a hard time calling in.
Generally I'm so sick that I spend the day in bed or sleeping on the couch.
