Crappy first day back at work....

Ugh.

well the good news is that LO survived the 8 hours with no boob with no issues...and my boobs survived a day on the pump with no issues......but everything else was really pretty crappy.

it took my d-bag boss all of 5.5 hours to tell me that I no longer report to him. The man who takes days to answer you on work issues and questions wasted no time telling me I now report to a teammate he promoted while I was out. I am thrilled for said co-worker, she busts her as$ and deserves a promotion, however I feel that it's a little bit at my expense.....as it adds another layer from upper management to me and I don't think it's a good fit for me AT ALL to now have to be reporting to a good friend......one who I have had many drunken business trips with none the less. I knew this was coming, the writing was on the wall, yet I can't get over it.....

i decided to go back to work today instead of the 15th bc it's only a 2.5 day work week in my office. I figured I could easily keep LO with me the next two days. I now have conference calls tomorrow from 9:30-12:30, 1:00 and 3:00. So much for an easy transition back.....should've taken the max 16 weeks, even if it was unpaid.

came home and found ants all over the floor when I went to do one of the four loads of laundry waiting for me......then found that my 2 cats have pulled yet another spot on the rug in LOs room.....grrrrr. The rug is the focal point of her nursery.....it was very expensive and it pisses me off to no end that they've gotten to it already. But then again, if DH stayed on top of cutting their claws (his job) it probably would t be an issue.

time for bed. tomorrow can only be better right!?!?!? Sure hope so.

Huge hugs JB. That's awful. You really got it all piled on you today. Surely things have to get better from here. I hope te rest of your week at work flies by and you have a great long weekend with your sweet baby.

I'm sorry you had a bad day back. FWIW I feel you pain with the carpet. We got a nice carpet for DS's room and the cats have torn it up. When we decorated the nursery for the girls we skipped the nice carpet. Today can only be better, and tomorrow might as well be Friday, right?

I'm so sorry your first day back was so terrible. Like PP said it seems like when it rains, it pours, especially when you're having to do something that's so difficult, like returning from maternity leave. I hope everything is better today so that you can get a smoother transition back to work. Congrats on LO surviving without the boob and you surviving on the pump!!

Aye I'm sorry I hope things get better! Hopefully your friend at work is understanding and has no power trips. At the end of the day I like to say I go to work to pay the bills but that is about it. And when I check out I competely check out of work and enjoy family time.

Thanks for all of the support ladies.

I don't know why I am taking the work news so hard, but I am. I am so irrate with my now former boss. He totally checked out of my work back in this past winter.... Furthermore, we had a discussion in February about some re-orgs that were taking place in our extended team and I asked him point blank if I would still be reporting to him, to which his answer was yes. Then he turned around and gave me a far from stellar review which he could not back up with any concrete comments or offer suggestions for improvement and now he's passing me off... which is literally what he's doing. There's another girl with my exact job on our team, and conveniently enough she's not being moved. Whatever. I feel like it's sadly the typical BS you sometimes see women get when they have a child....I'm so over it, and have sent tons of resumes lately so hopefully something will come together in the near future.

Until then - my week is over at 1 PM tomorrow and I will be spending the afternoon one on one with DD pretending I'm on maternity leave again And like PP said, from now on it's work to pay the bills and exit to family time at the end of each day.

I love my cats dearly - but feel like they are killing anything nice I have in my house (and I don't have much "nice" stuff)..... It's really, really frustrating....
