Okay, since Chi called me out last week, I'll go ahead and share. I hurt my wrist a few weeks ago. After an x-ray, MRI, and CT, t turns out I had a fracture from an injury back in 2002 that I didn't know was fractured, a new fracture from my current injury, and because the previous fracture didn't heal properly, I developed osteonecrosis. Which is basically a big scary word for a big scary problem in the joint, for which there is no actual cure, but a few surgical treatment options that might help slow down the problem, and gives me a best case scenario of 85% use of my wrist for the future. Worst case scenario would be that the joint collapses and I have to have a joint replacement.
Being the nerd I am, I was fascinated looking at the images and hearing the surgical options. Until I remembered that he was talking about me. I really thought this was going to be a sprain and no big deal. The plan had been for my mom to come for a week or so and help with E -- because of the extent of the surgery, I won't be able to pick her up for 6-8 weeks But with my dad being in the hospital last weekend, my mom isn't sure if she can leave him, and I don't want to ask her to. So I'm kinda freaking out about the whole thing.
Plus there's the fact that I'm still BFing, so I'm worried about the anesthesia, and the pain meds, and being able to hold her to feed. I know side-lying is our best bet, but she's too busy to lay down for long. So I'm afraid my supply is going to tank.
So there you go. That's what's going on with me. I'm pretty nervous about it, so if you can spare even more T & P for my family, we'd be happy to have them.
Re: Surgery Friday (Long, sorry)
That is a lot to be going through and I would be worried too. I couldn't hold my daughter for two weeks because some nerve/muscle issues in my arm and shoulder and it was driving me (and my husband) crazy.
I hope the surgery goes well and that you get as much improvement as possible in your wrist. And let's hope for a super speedy recovery.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Gosh, TJ, that's a lot to take in such a short time period! When do you have to have the surgery done? I see that E will turn 1 soon, are you planning to wean her by then? If so, can you postpone the surgery until she's somewhat/almost weaned so you don't have to worry as much about BFing? Or just do EP?
Can any of your family or friends come stay with you for a couple of weeks (eg, 2 wks for person #1, 2 wks for person #2 etc) to help you out with picking E up?
Lots of T&Ps coming your way.
ETA: Doh, just saw your title that you're having the surgery this Friday. Is it something that they can wait a little bit longer, obviously NOT if it'll be detrimental to your joint. Can YH take some time off to help out???

Lots of Luck to all of 3T/IF
We can't really postpone the surgery. The longer I wait, the worse it gets. It is now progressing quickly. I'm in stage IIIB of the disease and collapse is the next step of stage III. Also, we desperately want to TTC ASAP, and can't do so until this is complete.
We don't have family nearby. Our friends are all about an hour away, and of course work full time and have children of their own. I do have one friend who has offered to help all she can, but she is on maternity leave with an 8 week old, so there's really not that much she can do to help. She might pick E up from DC though after the surgery so MH doesn't have to leave me alone.
Hiring a mothers helper for a few days would be awesome! But we've had a huge month of unexpected bills including the surgery, so it's not really in the budget right now.
Thank for keeping me in your thoughts. I know it will all be fine. I'm such a worrier! But MH will do an amazing job of taking care of us, he always does.
