Combining shower with party...

My cousin is pregnant with her second, and her husband just turned 30. Her mother (my aunt) and her MIL threw her husband a 30th birthday party, and a shower for my cousin, in the same party. It looks like a full out shower (not just a sprinkle). (They live literally on the other side of the country, so we weren't invited.)

I'm just a little confused as to why they threw my cousin a shower, when she had one with her first, and my aunt is very proper about these things....

    Sounds like something you'd have to ask her?  Maybe in their region it's appropriate to have a shower for each baby.  I don't know?
