road trips

Those who have done road trips with your LO (s), how did they go? Did you travel at night or during the day? How often did you stop? We'll be traveling for 12 hrs and haven't decided exactly how (night or day). We do plan on stopping often and are trying to plan around parks etc..

    We just did a long road trip about 11 hours and we did it in two days. We left Friday evening during nap time and then spent the night and left after she woke up. It went fine but she didn't sleep but a couple hours the whole trip.

    Two weeks ago, we drove what is normally an 18hour trip - it was more like 22ish. We broke it up with two overnight stays, one in a hotel, one with family, and DH wanted to keep going waaaay late once LO had fallen asleep...ugh, I would not recommend that strategy. I had packed the pump and car adaptor thinking I'd give a bottle to keep driving, but I never used it once. Actually, stopping to nurse was a welcome break, and LO needed to get out of his seat once in a while. But, if DH had his way, no one would ever stop for any reason ever...!
