My parents are throwing a backyard summer party for all of their friends and we're celebrating Elijah's birthday at the same time, so the only "birthday" expense would be the cake, which I'm making, and his presents. So...$50.
Our original budget was $200 but I've spent almost half of that and we haven't gotten food, drinks or his gift. In the end it will probably be between $400-$500
I think about 650 or so. So far I have spent about 250. I am trying to buy things little by little so it doesn't feel like a big amount at once. I have a lot of family help though.
oh god, please dont let my husband find this thread I think when all is said and done we will be around $4-500 (that doesnt even include her 1 year pics)
Yep! Us too!
We aren't having a party. We may get him a few small gifts to open, but.... I really think we're underachievers when it comes to bday parties. Next year, definitely different. But this one, small is the theme!
Had my parents not decided to throw a party the weekend before Elijah's birthday, our plan was the same as yours. TBH, until he's old enough to decide on the theme of his party and has enough friends to actually invite to a birthday party, I see no point to throwing huge bashes he won't remember.
Including flights we're looking at $800-900 without $200-300 because we're going back to visit my family to do it so birthday cake, gifts, travel, and buying things we need for being there is getting pricey.
We don't really have a budget, per se. I'm not gonna go buy him a pony or anything, but it's a big party. Under $1k, I'd think.
This...although I probably won't count it all as party expenses, lol! For instance, my craft projects that are party decorations are coming out of my weekly entertainment budget ;-)
We spent $45 on the gifts (yep, already done shopping), and besides that will just have a cake and food to get. We are having 20 people at most for a cookout, so I hope the food won't cost too much.
Lila's party was last weekend. I did not have a specific budget but I spent several hundred dollars, mostly on food. I don't care about invitations or decor but I don't compromise on quality food for my family or my guests. We also splurged on a gelato bar for the adults, which everyone really enjoyed.

Gelato bar???!!! Mo.... You're my kind of people! That sounds amazing! I'm a gelato junkie!
. I became addicted to gelato on org honeymoon in Italy. We also lived within easy walking distance of a great gelato place in Chicago. There is an acceptable gelato place in Phoenix. Bring your family to AZ next year and I'll have the gelato bar again.

Since we're probably getting a second carseat, it's whatever that will cost. Other than that we have maybe $25 for odds and end drinks, but we have everything we need for it now.
Re: $$$ and birthday
At this point... I don't even want to think of what i have already/will spend.
