Is Canada day like our 4th of July... Like your independence day?

Re: Calling Canadians

  • So that's a yes. Fourth of July its when we won our Independence from all the foreign countries than owned our land. To add, 4th of July deals appt with the military, solders, sacrifice and national pride which especially for those who have family/spouses in the military.

Actually it's when we declared our independence by signing the Declaration of Independence. We hadn't "won" anything yet.

Technically yes. You first win over your mine. We, our ancestors, made the decision enough was enough so we won and agreed to own our freedom.

I think that's where the major difference is. I love that part of your celebrations, whereas we don't see that to the same extent here [where I live]. I am definitely proud to be a Canadian, but I am jealous of your national pride [if that makes sense].

I get it. When you fight for what you want your entitlement changes.

  • I am an American who has twice been in Canada on Canada Day, and I can safely say... Yes!  Very similar.  There were people having cook outs and going to the beach, and there was a huge fireworks display.  Very similar to July 4 here in the states.
  • It's like the US was the delinquent child of England, rebelling against Daddy King, and Canada just waited until Mommy Queen was in control and asked nicely if they could move out of the house.

Or maybe Australia is the delinquent one, and the US was just sassy.

  • I think Canada day is fireworks, and activities but more like July 4th.
