Clothes under swaddle

So last night we swaddled for the first time (LO hated the swaddle up until now) and he slept amazing!! A 5 hour and a 4 hour stretch. Needless to say we will be swaddling from now on

Anyways, I'm curious as to what you have your LO wear under the swaddle since it's summer and it just started hitting triple digits here. We don't have air conditioning but we have a swamp cooler and fans so the house stays relatively cool but still a little warm. He had been wearing long sleeve sleep slacks up until now but when I got him up this morning he seemed a little sweaty in the sleep sack and swaddle

Re: Clothes under swaddle

  • I usually put a onsie underneath the swaddle in the summer.  We keep our temp at around 76 or so at night.  This allows me to add another layer (usually receiving blanket) if needed.  In the winter I put on a sleeper.

  • I've been putting her in a footed pyjama because I didn't know if she'd let me swaddle her and now that she does let me swaddle her, I noticed she's very wam when she wakes up. I think I may switch to a onesie. We have AC, with the thermostat set to 72, but sleep on the second floor, so its warmer than that. I use the swaddle me blankets, which I think are a lot warmer than a receiving blanket.

  • Right now we are using the swaddle pods. They are light enough that I will still keep her in a light footed pajama underneath. My house is set to 73
  • If I swaddle ours at night she is just in her diaper.  Our house is kept at 78 and with the recent heat wave our a/c is working around the clock to keep up.  Our little one doesnt really like to be swaddled, so I normally have her in light footie pjs.

I have been doing a footed sleeper, as our house is pretty cool at night. But, I have put him I just his diaper and a swaddle on a particularly hot night.

We do a long sleeved kimono top or long sleeved onesie under the SwaddleMe.  Our a/c is set to 74 at night, but the vent is almost right over DD's crib and her room gets chilly.

A little off-topic, but I have a few different SwaddleMes.  I have a two-pack from Target that are fairly thick, and I just picked one up at Marshalls that's much thinner.  The one from Marshalls also has a little slit cut into the back of it, under where her diaper is.  The slit is definitely meant to be there - it's sewn around the edges (like a buttonhole) - I'm guessing it's some kind of vent?  Or so you can check LO's diaper without taking the whole thing off?  Has anyone else seen anything like this on their SwaddleMes?  I figured it was just a defect and that's why it ended up at Marshalls!

  • We keep our ac at 72 and a ceiling fan so if LOs in a onsie we double swaddle with AA blankets or one blanket with a footed long sleeve outfit

  • We are in Texas and keep our ac around 77. We put our little guy in a short sleeved onesie and swaddle in an AA blanket. When we tried a bag with long sleeves and a swaddle, he woke up sweaty.

I believe some of mine have that hole. I havent used them yet but i know what youre talking about.

ours have the hole. DH thought it was to check the diaper, but I feel like its to small to really check anything...

  • The little hole in the swaddle me is for a car seat buckle. Supposedly you can use it in the car seat but I've never tried it

I'm with HALO and I'm also a mom and a HALO SleepSack wearable blanket user.  My LO sleeps in a onsie and a cotton Halo SleepSack Swaddle.  We turn on the ac when it gets hot enough and the ceiling fan is always on when he's sleeping.
Get outta here! Every post you have on The Bump is about a dang Halo Sleep Sack. It's posters like you who ruin the idea of a genuine online community, giving true Mom-to-Mom advice. You've smattered every single Bump board with your Halo marketing crap. If I could get you banned, I would. What a LOW down way to advertise....Boo Halo.
