1st birthday cake flavors

So excited to introduce LO to cake! lol.  He hasn't had anything sweet (aside from fruit) and he loves to eat, so I am looking forward to his excitement when he smashes into his first cake!!  what flavors are you thinking about for your 1st birthday cake?? is chocolate a no-no since it has some caffeine or is it such a small amount that its not a problem?  thoughts??

Re: 1st birthday cake flavors

  • We did chocolate for her 1st birthday pictures yesterday.  She however was very cautious and didn't even touch the cake at first.  Then she ate some frosting and was done :)

  • I'm so very excited too.  We're doing a red velvet cake for his birthday.  His smash cake will be red velvet too.    They end up only eating a couple of bites, so I woudn't be too concerned about it.

  • Good point !
  • We had a chocolate cake with a strawberry filling. He didn't have too much cake and I'm not sure I can put all the  blame on the cake for him staying up till 1:30 a.m.
    Baby #2 coming in August!
