Dairy free whipped cream???

We think Ruby might have a milk protien allergy (boooo!!!) so I'm trying to find ways to still enjoy my holiday favorites.  I found a recipe for pumpkin pie without milk, but is there such thing as dairy free whipped cream?

Any rec's on recipe sites to visit for dairy free either?  This is harder than I thought, even the frozen french fries have a milk product in them.  Sad

I am not sure if a dairy free whipped cream exists but I have had good dairy free yogurt (soy yogurt, can't remember what brand) and cream cheese (by Tofutti-I think they also make sour cream). ?Regarding dairy free recipes, I have not come across good websites, though I'm sure they are out there. ?There are very good vegan cookbooks now that are all dairy free. ?Two that I like- ?Veganomicon and La Dolce Vegan.

ps: regarding the Tofutti, last time I checked the nutrition info, it had trans fat. :( ?fyi

I believe that Cool Whip is non-dairy.

Cool Whip contains Sodium Caseinate which is made from the milk protein, which of course is exactly what I need to avoid.  :-(

There is a dairy free whipped cream like Readi Whip which you can easily find at Whole Foods or another place liek that! I want to say it's called Soya something, can't remember exactly but it's good!

Reddi whip is made from real cream, so it's definitely not dairy free.  Sorry!  A google search for "dairy free whipped cream" turned up several soy options.

I can't remember the name either but it's made from soy and it was REALLY good.  My mom's grocery store actually carried it (Hy-Vee).  Definitely look for it (refrigerated section).  I don't think you could use it in place of Cool Whip though--too watery.  You could use it on top of pies, etc.
