Have people used/liked the sleep sheep? I got one as a gift, and is it crazy my first thought was I don't know if I want my kid to become reliant on noise - no matter how pleasant - in order to fall asleep? So, I'm thinking of consigning/selling it, unless from your experience you found it helpful?
Re: Sleep Sheep
I have and like mine. I will say that white noise is a god send in many homes, it helps baby's sleep thru noise and put themselves back to sleep. Many people do prefer the homemedics sound spa because it will stay on all night.
My advice: Don't knock white noise until you've tried it.

I don't feel like my DS was reliant on it... we used it as a "sleep signal" for him, in a way. But he could and would fall asleep without it. There were times when it was definitely helpful in settling him down, though.
I never tried it after her hearing became more sensitive. We finally found that radio static was her magic sound but it had to have it loud for a long time. We gradually decreased the volume so getting her off if it wasn't too hard.
Thanks for the additional responses! Very helpful. And heyitsme, appreciated this reassurance! And the comment from PP was well put that you also don't want them to require 100% quiet. Very true. Thanks again to all.
This - its all about creating a reliable and routine sleep environment. I would read the Sleepeasy Solution for advice on this (even if you don't think you want to do CIO, the book goes into creating the right sleep routine). I don't think DD relies on it, but I think it helps her not wake up at every sound and helps her go back to sleep.
This was us as well I put it on for DD and but she's not dependent on it. We also got the smaller travel sized one that way it was easier to travel with and I didnt think the Heart beat setting on the big one sounded real.
This, but we still used it for a year and a half. I just bought one that stays on all night for DS #1's room so the new baby crying doesn't disturb him.
