C-section birth photography...

I've never seen any before and don't plan on having any done for me, but somebody on the c-section board shared this.

Love all the dad pictures! They're so great. I always wondered what DH looked like when he went with the baby! Smile

  • It really was cool. I was honestly shocked how beautiful they were. I was also happy to see what goes on when you're kind of out of it after the birth!
  • Yep, crying over here too. Thanks for that!

  • July '12 C-Section Mama here... This was posted on our board just now and I wanted to say Thank you for this... I've never thought of my family's experience  as beautiful until I saw this. It's so easy to get hung up in the disappointment of the"plan" not working out and not appreciate the all of the beauty of how it comes to pass.

    Thanks again!

That was pretty cool.  As a BTDT c/s mamma I have to say I don't remember half of what I saw in the pics b/c I was so out of it.  It would be nice to have that kind of reminder.  Pretty cool.

    This was exactly my reaction!

A few made me cry. Very beautiful. I hope they keep a few private, like when they were pulling the baby out but beautiful photos.

damn, now i'm crying. that was so sweet!

  • I definitely want newborn photos, but I don't know if I would want to capture any graphic images if I were to have a C-section. I would still want to get a video of the birth, though that is pretty graphic and messy too, I imagine! I LOVE all the dads...now I'm crying!! Thanks for sharing this.

I can't see the vid cause it's blocked at work (er, not that I'm bumping at work), but the dad and baby didn't stay with the mom? I know it used to be common to separate them, but I thought everywhere pretty much had switched to keeping them all together at all times.

After DD was born, DH held her right next to me (and I held her a bit) as they were stitching me up, then we all went to the recovery room together and were there as a family. We weren't separated at all.  I'd be so sad to have them leave me!

The slide show was of many different births, so you can't really tell what happened. Back when DD was born, her and DH went off to get her cleaned up, checked out, etc. I was sick to my stomach thanks to the meds, so I was totally fine with it. When they brought her around to show me, I almost threw up on her head. I got to see her again about 20 minutes later and it seemed like 5 minutes until DH mapped it all out for me later.

  • A little late here but that's awesome. All of the emotions captured is truly amazing!

These are so good! Oh and this prompted me to go back and look at our pics from DD's birth. I'm all sentimental now Crying Our nurse anesthetist was awesome and took tons of pics for us and I still love our first family pic she took.

Aww! They did all the cleaning a foot away from me in the surgery room. If you are having another c-section, make sure to let them know you got sick - I had gotten SUPER sick from my epidural with DS and when I had a spinal for my cerclage surgery, and after I told him that, the anesthesiologist for my c-section with DD did some magic (added something, took something away, I can't remember) and I felt amazing during and after the c-section!

Oh I will! I'm using the same practice, but a different doctor this time. So it's all there. I was pretty famous for awhile after it. They brought her around, I gave her a kiss and said "She's so beautiful, please move her before I throw up on her face" and they moved her right in time. They laughed at the story the whole time I was in the hospital. LOL

  • KateMW, haha!

That was beautiful. I have tears.

  • Thanks for posting this!  I think too many times people only see one type of birth as a "beautiful" birth.  And a cs as a "Oh well your baby is healthy and that's what matters" type of situation.  Although my cs with DS was totally unplanned and scary at times, it really was a beautiful day.  The pictures of the doctor holding the baby up over the curtain made me smile.  I remember that moment very clearly.  Tears in my eye.  Thank you!

  • Just got around to watching this now. What a great capturing of bringing in life to the world. No matter how it's done. I would hope this might ease the fears of any FTMs that only hear the CS horror stories. it is also a beautiful experience. :]
