Blended Families

I think I intro'd, but don't post alot, comments

Hi all!  I think I intro'd a while back, but short recap since I don't post often: I have 4 boys from my 1st marriage, 14, 13, 11, 10.  I am remarried, BD is not.  My xh and I live about 6 miles apart but two differenct counties, two different school systems.

My oldest two moved in with their father last school year.  My 13 yr old and xh do not get along well... I can easily say it like this my 13 yr old's personality is very similar to mine...

Now, my 13 yr old wants to move back in with me, which is awesome except of course a change of schools again.  His father doesn't want him to but neither of us are going to court to force the issue

Not really a ? just trying to reintro anticipating need to vent/gather opinions support etc as this plays out

  • Can't you talk to the school and explain the situation? When my sister moved to my moms and it was out of the district my mom talked to the school and they said it was fine as long as she was making it to school everyday and on time. I'm sure if she was late or missing days they would have told my mom she had to change schools.

  • At least in most cases, I think there only has to be one parent residing in said school district to be able to enroll there. The address of the parent residing in said district would be the one used. However, if the child is not actually residing there, of course bus riding would be out if the question and truancy would warrant them to look into things.

Clarification... parent in the school district would be the 'permanentone address' and home where child resides would be the 'mailing address.' You would most likely have to explain why this is.different.
