any advice as to what i can put under my babies neck? Its all red n shiny looking and if i try wiping it she gets upset at me, I dont want to put anything on it that is going to make it worse. TIA
Thanks guys! I will try the powder tomorrow, I have cleaned and dried it and will see how it looks in the morning (night time for me here) and if it still looks irritated will try the powder. I hope it clears up soon , thanks again!
I gently wipe her with witch hazel (alcohol free!) and then use coconut oil. It's antimicrobial and seems to soothe the tender areas. If I stay on it, the redness will be gone in two days.
I would let her get upset and get it cleaned. Then maybe if you are super careful, use some of the cornstarch powder not talc and only very little. Perhaps rub some on the tips of your fingers far away from her face.
This and this. All three of my kiddos have had this, and them getting upset has been a necessary evil in getting it taken care of. They all hated getting it cleaned and powdered, but it helps so much, and they always forgive me when it's done. Good luck!
P.S. Make sure it's very dry and you don't use more than you need. If you use too much, it sometimes forms little clumps that make the problem even worse!
Clean gently with a warm wet washcloth. Then pat dry and put some powder. I put a little in my palm and brush it in with the fingers of my other hand. Works best if they are laying down flat.
This exactly. I rinse it well during bath time, then powder him up with the Johnson's cornstarch powder. It's part of our nightly routine now bc once I got his initial rash cleared up I quit a d it just kept coming back. So every night keeps it at bay.
