Trouble TTC

Flame Free Friday Confessions

I feel the need to get this off of my chest...

The room that will eventually be a nursery is currently our guest room, but we don't have overnight guests often so there are no curtains. A friend is visiting next month and the room gets too hot in the summer so we decided it was time to buy some blackouts. I just ordered a pair that I absolutely love, that may just perfectly match the one and only baby item that I've purchased, a green owl wall hanging. So I am confessing that I am subconsciously starting to build a nursery piecemeal. I feel like this is a bad idea but I just can't help it!!

Anyone else want to fess up to something?

I have the opposite problem.  Our spare bedroom is a junky mess with moving boxes and all sort of clutter.

This is what our office is like, it's a mess.  Boxes, paperwork, files, it's not pretty.  On my summer to-do list is to take a day off of work to clean up and organize!

  • When we moved into our new house over 2 years ago, we painted the guest room a soft yellow that we could keep up for a nursery.  I don't like it now, but I think it's b/c it makes be sad/annoyed to look in that room and see the wall color next to all our junk and boxes.  The bed isn't even in good condition, but dang it I don't want to touch anything until we finally get our take home baby.

  • Our future nursery was super cluttered until I made it one of my summer projects. It felt good to get rid of a bunch of crap. H is a packrat, so I think it will take a baby on the way to motivate him to purge.

Meanwhile, I can't bring myself to buy any baby stuff for us. Instead, I buy for nieces and nephews if I see something too cute to pass up. Kind of depressing, but I always think of how awful it would feel to get rid of that stuff if it never happened for us.

  • We have a spare bedroom and for the longest time we just used it to store things, despite having a twin bed in there to use for guests. Last year I cleaned most of it out in hopes of a having a baby. Now I tend to keep the door shut. DH thinks I'll be jinx if I buy any baby things ahead of time to put in there. I already bought a little Detroit Tiger's sweatshirt though, that I hide in the bottom drawer of the dresser in there...shh.

I have the opposite problem.  Our spare bedroom is a junky mess with moving boxes and all sort of clutter.  DH tried to organize it twice to get some use out of it, and I purposely picked a fight with him because I irrationally feel that doing anything in there is bad juju.

This is exactly us.  DH wants to paint it so it looks nice as a guest room and I absolutely refuse to paint it until we paint it for a nursery (though I didn't say that exactly to DH, more like, its too much effort or something like that...)

  • Our future nursery has blue walls, a felt cloud valance, and a cute frog wallpaper boarder. We actively use it as a spare bedroom. I do have a baby blanket stashed and a sweater, both knitting projects. And a my first tshirt from our alma mater, where DH and I met, and that I've been saving for our BFP.

Keeping with the nursery theme. Our future nursery stayed empty for 2 years. DH finally convinced me to decorate it as a spare bedroom because he thought it would be better than looking at an empty space and visualizing a nursery.

I refuse to hang pictures because I know how I want the room setup as a nursery and I don't want to patch the walls later. It's also the only bedroom that still has builder grade light fixtures because I don't see a reason to put in a new light that I would change in a nursery.

I've considered buying the bedding I like because I'm afraid it will be discontinued by the time we have a baby.
