Ear Infection?

I know this is going to sound totally idiotic, but what are the signs of an ear infection? Cecilia has been touching her ear a lot lately. She's not pulling on it, nor is she crying or showing any signs that she's in pain. She also doesn't have a fever. She just touches it. You think we should brave the 108 degree day and wait at the walk in Urgent Care?

    I would think its just teething. If she wouldn't lay down or started to really tug at the ears then I would go. And of course if she spiked a fever I would go.

    If she doesn't seem like she's in pain or have a fever, i would presume teething.  If she starts acting out of sorts, then i would take her in.

    My son has been doing his too. I called the pedi the other day and the nurse said that as long as he's not tugging at it and in pain then it's nothing to worry about.

    All of what PP's said. When she starts refusing a bottle, running a fever, crying when laying down, or really pulling on her ear or sticking her finger in it, then it's probably an ear infection.

    Thank you, everyone. I've been worried the past couple of days about this. It's reassuring to know other babies are doing this too.

    So DS has had a bunch of ear infections. We go to the ENT on wednesday.  He never showed signs of pain.  But would spike a fever.  That was how we knew it was an ear infection vs teething.
