Scary thing to wake up too!

So, this morning, as soon as we woke up, my husband checked the video monitor. He told me she had gotten out of her swaddle but was sleeping-which is fine. More power to her. When I go to check (half asleep) I thought something looked odd but just went "oh, well half her body is out, but she's still in the swaddleMe (we double swaddle)"

When I check a second time, I realize what was odd-SHE WAS ON HER STOMACH...SWADDLED.  ARGH! She was also turning her head as I watched her but I ran in there and turned her. Now she's awake much earlier than normal but...geesh.  That was scary!

  • Eek! Time to stop swaddling? Or maybe use a wedge so she can't roll over on her stomach?

  • DD did that twice last week so we had to ditch the swaddle.  Now we just use a sleep sack and she flips herself onto her tummy immediately when I lay her down.  She's actually sleeping so much better now as a tummy sleeper.  I know it's scary, but if she is rolling in her sleep you have to stop swaddling.

  • Yep, once they roll, the swaddle needs to go away!  Maybe she'll be a tummy sleeper and not give you a hard time!

  • well she STTN since 2 months, so there's no where to go but better naps LOL! She can't seem to roll without the swaddle-my husband thinks not having her hands to impede her makes it easier for her.  But yes, we're taking the swaddle away-for the morning nap my husband swaddled her in just the swaddle me (not our double swaddle method) and she rolled again. So, it's over for us.

I have a Magic Merlin suit; she slept 45 minutes in it, which is about standard for her so I'm thinking that's what we'll try tonight. In just her diaper, so she doesn't overheat.

    Wish us luck!

  • As soon as DD did that I stopped swaddling.  I worry too much!

  • we always said we would sop when she rolled. She doesn't roll normally but I think without her hands to block her progress she was able to do it. We put her in a swaddle transitioner-she's done fine. Actually, naps are better than ever and she is still STTN.

  • Oh, my! My heart would have dropped! Luckily, Jake has been out of swaddle for the past few weeks so this won't be happening to us, but I can imagine how horrifying that must have been for you. Luckily she had the strength of neck to turn her head!
