Nursing preference from one side

My LO strongly prefers my more dominant side (my right side), and often times fusses when I offer the less dominant side (my left side). The left side is essentially a dud and produces 1/3 of the other. At some point, she bites the bullet and nurses from the dud, but definitely not with the same enthusiasm and ease that she nurses from the preferred side.

Is it just me, or does anyone else's LO prefer to nurse from one side? Any advice on how to even things out?

Re: Nursing preference from one side

  • My son did that, but my stud and dud were opposite. The only way I fixed it was offering the dud side more often and first ( once he started nursing both sides).

Always offer the dud side first. My right was kind of a dud compared to the left until I did this for about a week. Now things seem more even.

  • My left is a dud cuz my nipple is flatter and I spray like a firehose out of that side that my DS practically drowns. I only nurse with one side per feeding and when it's ol' lefties turn I can almost hear my DS saying "oh sht"

lmao! FYI my left boob consistently produces 1 ounce less than the right side, at least when I pump...
