Hello everyone! I was just curious if anyone has taken clomid before? I am on day 2 of my first round using clomid (50mg). DH and I have been trying for 7 months now and Dr. put me on Provera and Clomid to help our chances sense I have always had irregular periods and do not seem to be ovulating.
Anyone else taking clomid? I am on cycle day 4 today, hoping this is the month!
Re: TTC with Clomid
You obviously don't want to know the truth.
Unmonitored Clomid is bad. You also need lots of tests before Clomid which I bet you haven't had.
Impatience is not a reason to jump to infertility treatments.

Hi, thanks for responding. Right now I am seeing my OB/GYN. We have been tracking AF for a year now which included ultrasounds throughout the year. This is why she thought it would be beneficial to try to clomid now. I have had blood work done the day she prescribed the clomid. I was called back in for more blood work this week (2 days before starting the clomid). I am supposed to go back in for more blood work IF I get a + OPK (I have never had a + OPK) to check progesterone levels.
Sorry about it not working for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will help DH and I. I will do the same for you!
Sorry, I didn't want the thread to be on two boards and thought it would be more beneficial over here. Sorry for the inconvenience (I'm new to the boards and still figuring out where I should post).
DDing is never wise.
Listen to what the ladies are saying. HSG, SA for your H, CD 3 bloodwork are the minimum tests prior to starting Clomid. And you haven't answered the question of how your doctor determined that you weren't ovulating in the first place?!

I have been tracking temps and cycle days for over a year now. I started doing this because when DH and I decided we were ready to try I wanted to be prepared and be able to conceive. We decided it was time to try 7 months ago. I am not taking clomid to be a miracle pill, I am taking it because my Dr. prescribed it. But YES I do hope it will work. Thanks for the help ladies.
And I don't know what a SIGGY is
OP they aren't attacking you but giving you solid advice. Clomid is a serious drug with serious side effects, including cysts and thin uterine lining. Not to mention its useless if ere are issues with her husbands sperm or you have a tube blocked. Clomid should be prescribed by a reproductive endocrinolgist who is trained in infertility, not an ob who is trained in women's health and birth
October, 2013- Metformin + 50mg Clomid + iui - BFN
November, 2013- Metformin + 50mg Clomid + iui + Prometrium 2x a day- Chemical Pregnancy
OK, so how do you know that you are not ovulating? What testing have you had? What monitoring is your doctor doing?
All questions that have been asked that you have yet to answer.

They aren't attacking you, they are trying to get all the information they need to make a recommendation. Since you have been charting for several months and are anovulatory I would recommend seeing a RE. Just because your doc prescribed Clomid, doesn't mean that taking it without monitoring is safe. OB/GYNs are not fertility specialists and do not have the training that REs have. Ultrasounds serve multiple purposes, they detect if something bad is happening (cysts, thinned lining, etc.) and they also tell your doc how well you are responding. You don't want to waste a cycle, because you don't know if you responded.

PAIF/SAIF Welcome!
All of the above is really good advice. We see a lot of traffic on these boards with people who are on unmonitored clomid. For whatever reason, some OB-GYNs are quick to prescribe clomid, but don't follow up with the proper monitoring. It's dangerous and irresponsible, but sadly it happens a lot.
Good luck to you, and I hope that you decide to get the proper monitoring or seek out a RE who will give you the care you deserve.
****Siggy Warning, PAIF Lurker***
OP, these ladies are right and you really should pay attention to their advice. Clomid is a very dangerous drug to take when you're not monitored properly. In my own personal experience, clomid could have killed me or left me permanently sterile because I was stupid and blindly trusted my OBGYN. I was on it for 5 or 6 months were zero monitoring - during that time I developed enormous cysts and OHSS. The cysts were so large that my ovaries had actually wrapped around the backside of my uterus and were touching, as well as leaking fluid into my abdominal cavity. Those things could have twisted or ruptured at any time. I was so lucky that I found THIS BOARD and wised up. I demanded a referral to a RE and it probably saved my butt.
The PP's are right though. It can take a couple with no problems up to a year to conceive. Also, if you havent been properly tested, then Clomid may be completely moot. What if your tubes are blocked? You can produce all the eggs you want but they arent going anywhere! And if your DH has sperm issues? Thats why these tests are necessary BEFORE starting treatments. OB's are not in the business of getting people pregnant, but RE's are. So PLEASE PLEASE advocate for yourself and don't blow these ladies off for not blowing rainbows up your butt.
