Watching movies offline on iPad?

Help me travel in peace (well, as peaceful as possible). DH and our kids are going to visit DH's family abroad.  We have a 5 hour flight.  How do I watch movies on the iPad offline while on the plane? Any other good travel suggestions to add?  We haven't flown since DD was born and will have 3 kids incl my step son, so we need some in flight entertainment :-)

Re: Watching movies offline on iPad?

  • I downloaded episodes of Curious George through iTunes to watch on my iPhone when we flew. I would think you could download movies from there and then they'll just be on your iPad under Videos?

  • You buy movies from iTunes while you are online and download them.  You just have to make sure you have enough space. For the kids movies I don't buy the HD versions because the kids don't notice the difference and they take up a lot of space.
  • Find stuff on YouTube and then download it in MP4 format to your computer. Then you can put it on your iPad: www.savevid.com

I have used this a lot. You probably won't find a lot of movies but short episodes of kid stuff.

Slysoft is good software to copy your own DVDs in MP4 for iPad use. We have a ton of DVDs and I really didn't want to rebuy those movies on iTunes. It isn't free but if it is something you would use regularly it would be worth the price.

  • I use free maker vidoe converter to put my and DS's DVDs on my iPad.

its a lifesaver for the 5 hr drive to my parents.

Its free and it also can convert YouTube videos to mp4 so you can watch those off line.
