Trying out employer's backup care today

Ugh. Dd got the stomach bug that was going around her classroom. It is just diarrhea, no fever or vomiting, but we are now on day 5. DH and I took some time off, and now we have decided to try the backup inhome care that contracts with my employer. I am hoping it goes ok. She better be able to go to school by Monday!
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

    call often and check in. We have had some weirdos through our employee back up but also some great ones. We always try them out first while one of us is working from home. nbsp;Can you check in at lunch?Hope your LO feels better soon and you have a great experiencenbsp;

    Why are you always so negative?

    OP, backup care has been a lifesaver for us. We've had some we've liked more than others but no one was a "weirdo." They're all screened and background checked and that's the major advantage. Your DD will be fine! I wish more employers provided this benefit!

    Not to say you shouldn't check in ... just that there's no need for panic. And hope your DD feels better soon!

     There is always a lot of turnover at these places, better to be safe than sorry

  • I can't WFH since I have to see my patients. I know others who used it and had good experiences. They do background checks, training, and require CPR/ first aid cert.

    1st call to check in went to voicemail...

  • Checked in and all is well. DD even ate her lunch well, which she doesn't always do for us!

  • This is a really nice service that your employer has. I'd probably be nervous about using it too but you know...after 5 days and if you don't have family or a friend to help what are you going to do? This sounds like a great option and I'm glad it's going well.
