B-b-b-bedtimes

So what is everyone else doing these days? I know we had bed time talks way back when but these kids are almost adults at this point...So has anything changed? Everyone sleeping through the night? Having to drag your kids out of bed in the morning?

I know we've all been fighting the good fight (trying to get back to STTN ourselves) and It was actually really not going well for me... It seemed like no matter what I did she woke up between 3-5...Sometimes for a bottle, sometimes just to hang... She's not a jerk or anything, she's just awake...But I didn't want to hang, or give her a bottle, to be quite honest.

Well, when H left on his big adventure last week (idiot) and left me alone with the beast... I made plans, lots of plans. So many in fact that she actually didn't end up going to bed until 9:30-10p the first couple of nights, and something magical happened. She slept until 8...8:30...9...9:15!! So I've just been going with it... 9:30-10p bedtime lands us with a 9am wake up, bottle, and we can start our day before 11am, mainly because I don't want to die because I was up from 3-6am, hanging out.

Is this fine? Should I call CPS and tell them my kid has the latest bed time in the world? Is anyone else doing something similar? Is this just a honeymoon phase and she'll go back to her MOTN antics?

  • That's disgusting you should be ashamed of yourself.

If I found out that Liam was actually a nocturnal animal and would rather sleep from 7am-7pm I would allow that.  So, I think it is great that you found something that works for you.

HIs bedtime is around 6:30 and he sleeps until (well, we get him) 6.  We have tried 6, 7, 730, 8 and he always wants out of his crib by 6.  Also, he goes to bed the "easiest" at this time.  The early bedtime seems to "work" for him and it gives me time to hang out with my husband and talk to my favorite ladies.   And of course drink wine.

I don't care for your tone.

  • Whatever works!

Em goes to bed any time between 7 and 8:30...once in a while she'll have a big day and want to be down around 6:30.  I go with what we can both handle. She's still waking up in the night though.  She gets up at least once for a bottle, but lately she's trying to up it to twice.  DH is the one who gets up with her, so he's decided to start trying to night wean her.

Once in a while she sleeps through the night, and it's glorious.  Do what you have to do to get a full night's sleep...doooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

  • I think it just depends on what works best for your family. I'd much rather have 2-3 hours with DH at night and wake up at 6 with DS, than have him stay up with us and get up later in the morning.

  • We go to bed no later than 830 and you can count on him being up by 530. And he is up at least twice in between thosetimes. I miss sleep!!!!

  • Wow. Your baby's bedtime is later than mine! :) haha.

Dagny generally goes to bed around 7:30, sometimes earlier if she's a crabby pants baby.  She usually throws in a wake up between 4 and 5 to eat and then is back down until 7/7:30am.  Sometimes she's weird and she'll sleep all the way until 6:30, wake up to eat and then go back to sleep until 8:30.  I SAH so I go with the flow and let her do what she wants (unless she wanted to be up at 6am, then she and I would have issues).

Dagny is NOT a late night baby.  Kid gets pissy if she's up past 7:45.  We cannot have her out of the house later than 7 or all hell breaks loose.  So at least you'll be able to do things with her in the evening!

  • Lucky You!

Last night I kept her up till 9pm because we went out to dinner. B!tch woke up at 5:30am. And not an ignorable wake up like always. She was talking very loudly and refusing to be ignored. Yelling DADDDAAAA DAAADDDDAAAAAAAAA

If I dont put her to bed at her normal time it jacks her all up.

We usually put him down around 7 pm and he generally sleeps until 6:30 or 7 am now that I am out of work for the summer and I don't have to wake him up to get ready. He sttn, although sometimes he will wake up once for 5 minutes or so and puts himself back to sleep.

  • This is definitely the most consistent (STTN) that it's been in a long time... Which definitely works for me. I also stay home so I don't need to get her up to go anywhere...The nap thing though... She still fights those with all her might and will still only sleep in her swing (she will fall asleep in her stroller or the car but as soon as it stops moving....game over)...Bed time is in her crib though. Kids are weird.

Ava goes to bed between 7:30 to 9, but usually by 8 unless we're out. She usually sleeps until about 7 then she gets up and has a bottle. Then back to sleep until about 9.
