So, I went to look at an apartment with a friend this evening. I parked in front of one of the buildings, where two women were sitting on the porch, enjoying their dinner on TV trays. Well, I assume they were enjoying it, as they were looking at me like I just peed in the flowerbed...
I got out and tied LO in my wrap, then grabbed my purse from the front passenger seat. As I had my back turned to close the car door, I felt something "bump" the center of my back. I turned around and noticed a crumpled up ball of aluminum foil on the ground by my feet.
So, basically, one of these women threw it at me. While I was holding LO.
I am not really mad or anything because it hit me, not LO, and sometimes people act like jackbutts (lol), but really? We're throwing trash at people? I just don't get it.
Re: That just happened...
Were these older ladies or younger ladies? Just curious?
I would have said something, but that is just me.
Older, but not elderly.
I hesitate to open this can of worms, but if I was basing this event on past experiences, I'd venture to say it might have been for reasons of race.
I didn't say anything to them, and wouldn't have, for two reasons (other than the obvious one of LO being with me.
1. I'm really non-confrontational, and it would have ruined my day
2. They could easily have taken me if they were so inclined
No, she isn't going with that one, lol. Which sucks because everything else about the property was pretty great. Oh, well. Not worth it.
If it was something ongoing, that would be different. I probably should stick up for myself more in general, but I don't feel like it's worth it to let something escalate when I could just as easily walk away. I get way too emotional way too quickly in situations like these, too. If this woman felt the need to throw trash at a stranger, that's her problem and I don't need to make it mine. You know?
