C-sections

3X csectioners....

how did you recover with your 3rd csection compared to the first two? I will be having a third csection in Jan & am a little nervous. The first time I recovered amazingly & quickly. The second time it took me a little longer & I was in a bit more pain but nothing too extreme. Just trying to get a feel for your third compared to your first two, thanks!

Re: 3X csectioners....

  • I've had 3 sections, on my way to 4. My first was AWFUL, infection, allergic reaction to the closure. #2 was fine, quick and easy. #3 was the easiest so far- Maybe I was just too busy with a 1yo, but I really had no problems with pain, I actually left the hospital about 30hrs after my section.

Also, I had nerve damage from #2 across half my stomach, and with #3 it went to my entire incision area. My MD is old school, so its about a 7inch long incision bikini line. It is numb the entire length and about 4 inches up. Lol, with this section I may just go numb to my chest!

Wait?  You're PG?!  Congrats!!  I see you every now and then on the baby name board so I'm excited to see what you're final name choices will be!

I've only had 1 CS so no advice to your regular question!

Awww thank you so much! I am! I am still in shock about it bc I m/c early March and was pregnant again by mid May. Didn't think it would happen so fast so I am still nervous but super excited!! haha I am excited to know out final name choice myself! We have a boy name, no middle name & 3 girls names we both agree on. This time around is going to be rough! She/he may not have a name until we are forced to pick one!

well at least they got better for you as you went on & not worse! If my first one was like that I may have been terrified to do it again! My incision is on my bikini line & barely noticeable...she did a fabulous job at that. It is numb where my scar is as well. GL with #4, I hope it is as smooth as 2&3 :)

I got up and walked a lot about five hours after this csection - it was the best recovery I've ever had (and after weeks of bedrest - the worst shape I'd been in for any csection). Walk, walk, walk. It makes a world of difference!

  • I'll be having my 3rd in August. First was a breeze (he was in the NICU and ended up not surviving) 2nd was a little difficult but still pretty easy. I didn't really know what to expect when it came to having one and taking care of a kid. I'm nervous about this one just because of having a toddler at home.

  • My 3rd was by far the easiest. After trial and error with the first two, they got my meds right during the surgery so I felt great during. I also felt pretty great after. I left the hospital around 30hrs after DS3 was born.

  • I've had 4. They've all been relatively easy in terms of actual surgery and recovery. Have never had a "bad" c-section experience. My 4th was my easiest.

    GL to you!

  • 1 emergency, so very tired. 2scheduled but quicker. 3 scheduled, and the quickest. 4 will be scheduled as well, and I'm hoping for a speedy recovery!
    Good luck!

  • Good luck! I'm having my 3rd in January and am hoping that it goes as well as the other two. My 2nd was easier than my 1st. I don't know if it's just because I knew what to expect or because my pg was so miserable that surgery was a breeze compared to it lol. But I'm hoping the 3rd is just as great! My 1st wasn't walking even when I came home from my second so I'm less worried about coming home to 2 walking toddlers this time than a 27+lb not walking 1 year old!

  • I've had 4 and my only hard recovery was with the third. I had horrible pain and it was the only one that I actually needed meds after the hospital. Turns how he had removed a lot of scar tissue so the area had to stretch.
  • My first was an emergency, had an infected incision, ended up being in the hosital for 11 days, so that one sucked.

    Second was an absolute breeze.

Third was almost as good as the second, with the exception of it was at a different hospital and they put me on a different pain med than I had for the first two and I didn't tolerate it well. But painwise, recovery, etc was very easy as well.

  • My second and third were both pretty easy. I stayed on my pain meds a little longer with the third bc it was 10 days before Christmas and I was doing too much too soon.

  • In October I'll be having my 3rd csection. My 1st was an emergency and the recovery was really hard. My 2nd was a piece of cake. I'm hopeful this one will be easy as well.
