DH came up with Ellia the other day. Prounced like "Ellie" but with an A at the end (I know it should be obvious but it wasn't immediately obviously to me!)
I honestly don't know...knowing him, it's something he came up with as I highly doubt he would look at a name database!
I personally don't like it, I agree that it doesn't stand alone well. I proposed "Elia" (pronounced e-LIE-ah) instead (like "Elie" from the Bible only feminine) as a compromise he prefered Ellia.
It was like twisting his arm to get one name suggestion...

Gotcha!
Elia is pretty!
I don't really like Ellia either. What about Delia or Delilah?

I really like Elia. I don't know about Ellia yet. I think it's like Aaliya, or however it is that people spell that name.
We had Elia on our final name list (pronounced EH-lee-uh). I read the name in Game of Thrones, and it was the name of a contestant on Top Chef a few years ago. We ended up not using it because I was afraid no one would ever know how to pronounce it. I didn't want people to think it was like Aaliyah (uh-LEE-uh).

I know how you feel!
on the name I actually like it the only thing is maybe people pronouncing it wrong.
Re: Ellia?
OK...now when you say your DH "came up" with it...do you mean he saw it/ heard it somewhere, or he made it up?
I am asking because I have honestly never heard this name before (which really doesn't mean anything, just saying).
