Re: judgement day

  • I judged a woman the other day who told me her daughter is "25 months". Umm, why didnt you just say 2 years old? I get saying age by months up UNTIL the child turns two, but after? I judge.

I judge myself for dragging my feet on telling my current boss how Id be a kickass CMO for our new company. Im not very good about singing my own praises and the whole process makes me uncomfortable. However, if they give the position to someone else Id be superpissed.

  • Oh good - I need this...

I judge the SAHM of one of DS's friends whose FB posts give the impression that her three kids are more of an annoyance to her, as their needs get in the way of her daily gym/spa/lunch schedule.  It bugs me to no end.

I judge my boss who is extremely unhealthy and eats the worst fast food lunches every day, and insists on calling me into his office to review things while he is eating so I can sit there and smell the greasy fried lunch du jour.  He also talks with his mouth full and smacks his lips while talking/eating and it makes me want to gag a little.

I judge my SIL, who is letting my twin nieces do nothing for a year after HS graduation - no PT jobs, community college classes - nothing at all - after paying for them to get a private education for the past 13 years.  Meanwhile she is constantly talking about how broke my step-brother and her are.

    WOw - I am a judgy wench today aren't i?

  • I was on the breastfeeding board today and I am judging the hell out of the mom who is trying to night wean her 9 month old because her pedi said 9 month olds don't need to eat at night.  She let him cry for 1.5 hours then finally nursed him and he went right to sleep.

CIO here and there is one thing but letting a baby cry for 1.5 hours is another.

I get that you want to night wean your babies but this particular thread was hard to read.

Rather, maybe not I'm not judging her so much as I'm judging her ped who gave that kind of shitty general advice.  How the hell does he/she know the exact time a baby will be hungry?

That's sad. People listen to pedi's WAY too much when it comes to stuff like this. That poor kid is all sorts of confused now.

Agree. Yes, on most things I listed to my pedi's advice, but on others when it doesnt "sit well," I trust my Mommy instinct and go with my gut as to what is best for DS.

Sounds like she got lame advice but what she's done with it is on her. Her ped said the baby didn't *need* milk in the middle of the night and maybe that's technically true - maybe the kid had kept up with the growth curve, is eating well, etc - but sounds like the ped didn't say "and therefore, you should have the kid cry indefinitely"

I think people think of CIO as the only way to encourage STTN, so if you say "oh baby doesn't need to wake up 2-3xnight" they hear "you should let baby cry." They don't think of what they could do differently - offer more milk right before bedtime so baby is full, transition to other forms of comforting in the night rather than nursing, etc. We find that a nightly bath and massage really reduce night wakings - makes the baby super relaxed and ready for bed. Why don't we have more discussions about how to facilitate better relaxation when we're talking about sleep training? There's more than one tool out there.

    Yes excellent points.
  • I judge DH's Cousin's wife for posting videos of her daughter on youtube dancing in the car...and is not buckled properly, then when she shares it notes she isn't buckled properly and that she has put it on a private channel so no one calls CPS on her...um...would you just buckle her properly?! At least this time the video was taken while she was the passenger and not the driver. Gee whiz.

I too hate when men don't wear undershirts under dress shirts. Ew. I knew this guy in college, and he was SUPER HAIRY..and he would only button the bottom two buttons of his shirt...it was disturbing.

Also, dress shirt jacket with jeans. Dislike. Oh! And flip flops with dress clothes.

For some reason that doesn't bother me as much.

But, dude, I really don't want to see your nips at work.  Srlsy.

Seriously, you posted the picture on the INTERNET, no matter how private you settings are, if you post it, it can be found, shared, duplicated, etc.... Either accept that, or DON'T POST IT.

  • Since today's theme is attire, I am going to admit I judge women in my office who do not dress appropriately.

Yesterday I witnessed one women wearing black slacks, a button up shirt and boat shoes. Ehh, no bad, but her hair didn't look like she put it in one of those messy buns to work out in. The next was worse! She had on leggings as pants! Yea, she was fit and skinny, but really? Leggings should never equal pants! Your shirt needs to cover your butt!

One of the assistants here is a total hipster, so I don't understand most of her outfit choices.  But on one Friday (when we can wear jeans) she wore overalls.  Seriously....

E! news last night claimed that early '90s fashions are back, including overalls.  Kill me now.

  • Ok on the work clothes thing - I don't know if this is a judgment per se, but I work with mostly men and our boss is a woman. Boss & I are the only women who dress in business casual or just straight business everyday. The other 3 women in our office dress in casual - casual skirts, sundresses, etc, which would be fine for casual Friday but everyday? The men mostly wear suits, or at least a tie so it's a total mismatch. It's not against company policy, but to me, it does kind of scream"don't pick me for a promotion!"

Also, getting in past 9? Again, I know if you put in 8 hours, who cares? But the answer in our office is that our boss cares! She gets super angry to walk around in the morning and see only 2 people are actually at their desk by 9am. If you knew that about your boss, wouldn't want to be one of those 2 people who make her happy in the morning? Easy way to impress the boss.

  • I judge people at work who ask no questions.  It's a pretty clear sign to me that they are missing at least part of what they need to understand.  Then they turn in sub par work and say "I did not understand that".  NO KIDDING.  This is an IQ problem, I think, and has no possible resolution.

  • More on the work attire:

I was on interview committee, and out of the 6 candidates we interviewed, only ONE showed up in a suit, 2 wore business casual, and the other 3 were just totally inappropriately dressed.  I'm a teacher, and while we don't have a formal work dress policy, come on!  It's an INTERVIEW!  One woman showed up in a cotton ribbed tank top, a skirt(kind of like one I own to wear to the beach!), and her hair in a bun with a pencil stuck through it.  And chipped blue nail polish.  It's sad when she left and all we commented on was her outfit - it's like we didn't even remember the answers she gave to our questions.

I judge myself!  We borrowed a portable DVD player from SIL for our vacation last week.  We let DD watch a Dora DVD while we were having dinner in a restaurant so we could actually eat our meal without having to scarf it down in a hurry.

    This is judgeworthy???? Uh oh.

If this is the worst thing you can judge yourself on, you're doing well.
