Intros

Hi ladies! I've been following this board for a few weeks, and would love to join in on the fun. I'm 14 1/2 weeks pregnant, and am hoping to be a fit mama. I always smile when I see pregnant women working out at the gym or new mom's out jogging with the baby, and I totally aspire to be like them. I'm usually a big runner, but it was tough to keep moving during the first trimester since I was so exhausted. Now that my energy levels are up again, I'm looking for fun new ways to keep me and baby motivated. I welcome whatever tips you might have!

Welcome! I suggest continuing your regular workouts if you are able.  That way, it won't be as hard to get back into them postpartum.  Also, since you are already an active person, you could consider adding a different type of workout into your regular schedule such as swimming or yoga! It might be nice to have a backup in case you aren't able to run further along in your pregnancy.

I am 35 weeks now and am still able to run between 3-5 miles 4x a week and do a cardio kickboxing class.  The thought of having to take 4 weeks off from running after LO gets here is motivation to keep running for me!  However, I know of lots of other mommas who are runners who have had to stop running around 28 weeks or so due to sciatica, pubic symphysis separation, preterm labor, etc. so it would be good to have a backup!

  • Hi there- welcome!  I'm not pregnant but have two LOs.  After my DD was born, I dropped 80 lbs (I was overweight my entire life).  I would love to have a third one and experience a "fit" pregnancy, but we shall see!

  • Welcome!  Good luck with your goals.  I am 7 m pp with ds#2 and have about 55 pounds to lose.  I gained way too much with both of my pregnancies and really want to get back to my healthy weight before ttc #3.  I've started posting on the accountablity check in on Mondays... You should join too!

  • Thanks everyone! I've just started added swimming to my routine, which I love! So now I'm running and doing some weights three days a week and swimming two days a week. I'm trying to listen to my body to make sure I don't push myself too hard, but am feeling good so far!
