DS is about 7.5 months, 21 lbs. He is having a 6 oz bottle at 6 am, 9, noon, 3 and 10 pm with puree around 10 am and 6 pm. He's been STTN but lately he is waking up and he's eating more at daycare so about 2 extra bottles. I tried giving 7 oz but he spit it back up.
We quit oatmeal pretty quickly because he got really constipated. Should I try again, maybe it'll fill him up a little better than his current diet? Add another puree? Leave it alone and stick with the extra 2 bottles on an as needed basis? Maybe he is going through a growth spurt and this is temporary? What do I doooooo? Lol
Re: Feeding and maybe growth spurt?
V is just 8 months. He has same issue with bottles, takes 6.5 ounces easily. Looks for more, but will spit up if I give him even 7.
Ped recommended us adding a 3rd "meal" during the day. She suggested the meats/veggie combos. So he has:
7ish: bottle
9:30-10:00ish: 2 TBS oatmeal with a stage 2 fruit (we are now working to switch oatmeal to yogurt but we have to move slow as he has been on Alimentum for so long)
12:30: bottle
2:30ish: 1 jar of meat/veggie combo and 1 jar stage 2 veggie
5:30 bottle
7:00: 2 TBS oatmeal and 1 jar stage 2 veggie (starting to switch oatmeal to pastina some nights, plus he gets a little of whatever food we have if appropriate)
8:30ish: bottle
Since most nutrition comes from the bottle you may want to go that way, but you can see if he is satisfied with a 3rd "meal." No real science, I'm learning, just trial and error.
Hmm so maybe I need to add in a 3rd meal and add oatmeal back in at breakfast. We are going on vacation for a week so I'll start this on Saturday so I can really monitor in case he gets constipated again. They write down if he pooped or not but no details as gross as that sounds.
