D.C. Area Babies

XP: Chevy Chase MD

Hi.

We have a remote chance of moving because of dh's job. The company is in Chevy chase MD which I know absolutely nothing about.

Can anyone tell me anything about this town or recommend another town somewhat nearby maybe within 45 minutes or so?

Our biggest requirement is excellent schools. After that I suppose we would be looking for a nice town with decent restaurants, things to do etc. we generally like newer homes. Big lots/ land aren't that important to us.

Any insight would be amazing.

I'm definetely putting the cart before the horse but I cant help but start to research.

Thanks!

  • I actually lived in Chevy Chase for about 5 years as a child while my dad had a job there. Nice, up-scale area. Pretty pricey in terms of homes, but at least my memory was good schools (my mom's a teacher so she took a lot of care to be sure). I went to 2

  • I grew up and currently live in Bethesda, MD which is a neighboring town to Chevy Chase.  Its a very nice, upscale community with amazing schools (ranked among the top in the country).

There are lots of restaurants, shopping and easy access to D.C.

I have 3 kids and we can always find great things to do - readings at the libraries, farmers markets, fairs, etc.

  • Hi there.  Chevy Chase is a very nice area, can be a bit pricey.  If you want something further North with the possibilty of some land or don't want to live "in the city" I suggest an area like Gaithersburg, Germantown, Damascus, Mt. Airy.  I have lived in MD all my life, and live in Frederick. Frederick is a nice/growing area as well. If you need any other help let me know!
