What's the current opinion on getting hair colored while pregnant? Is it still a big no-no, or are there safer options now? I get mine done about every 6 weeks and can't imagine having to wait until January to cover the grey.
My doc said its fine for me but warned me that hormones can make the color a bit off from what I'm used to. I haven't colored yet and am super grey, but DH's class reunion is when I'm 10.5 weeks and I'm debating having it colored just before. I don't like the grey but I can live with it.
I have had my hair colored. Had to hide the grays. The color came out fine. It is fine per my hairdresser, but obviously do what you feel comfortable with.
I get mine done every 4 weeks. Ob said it is fine. I'm really gray for 36 and I am already feeling like an old ftm so I don't want to look old as well.
I just had mine done yesterday, but as others said, ask them to monitor the color closely as hormones can change how your hair reacts. Also ask for a fan if the fumes are bothering you and don't sit under the heated dryer if you think you might get light-headed.

I waited til 2nd tri, but my doctor said I could at my first appointment. However, my scalp is really dry and sensitive which is why I decided to wait.
I've been getting it done at a salon rather than doing it myself. I have had lots of gray for over half my life starting at 15!! I started dying it regularly at 23 and am now 39 My color has been great for the most part. Redken works better than aveda for me right now.
I have been dying my hair since I was 16. I have black hair and lots of gray. My OB said it was fine after the first trimester. My hairdresser brushes it on and tries not to touch my scalp.

Run it by your physician...I'm sure you will get approval to color your hair. Just be sure to color in a well-ventilated area. I've not experienced any complications in pregnancy from hair-coloring, and my children are healthy.
I asked my stylist to order organic, botanical-based color, which she did. I go every 5 weeks for highlight and color touch-ups, as a double-processed blond. No bad effects that I know of so far--due any day now and all results have been normal throughout the pregnancy. I did stop the spray tanning at 9 weeks, though.
