Were any of you referred to a MFM Specialist after a miscarriage? I lost my twins at 18 weeks and had a D&C. This was 3 weeks ago on 6/4/13. I had my f/u with my OB last week and she said that everything seemed normal and there wasn't really an explanation as to why I lost the pregnancy. She said that because it was twins everything goes out the window. She also said that while I needed 6 weeks of pelvic rest, that we could start trying again as soon as we are ready. I want to get checked by the MFM before we try again just to make sure there isn't anything wrong.
Did any of you see an MFM after a miscarriage? If so, what can I expect?
Re: MFM Specialist
****rainbow pg metioned********
We saw a perinatologist when i was 18-20 weeks pg (can't exactly remember when). After our anatomy scan, she sat down with us and we made a "game plan" for the rest of pregnancy. Even though Having another still birth would be really unlikely, they still wanted to relieve as much anxiety as they could with the pregnancy. I ended up taking the glucose test twice, once at 20 weeks and again at 28 weeks (passed both times). Was told to see a cardiologist at the local children's hospital for a fetal cardiogram (my first daughter was born with a heart murmur and According to the autopsy report, Logan had a large hole in his heart- not the cause of his demise though) I also was scheduled for weekly Non Stress Tests from 34 or 36 weeks. They also induced me a week early.
i don't have any ticker for her because I mainly come on this board, but my rainbow baby was delivered safe and sound on Feb 15. She was perfectly healthy.
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
Our OB did some blood tests on me, and ran some tests on my daughter. Everything came up negative. Did your doc run any tests on the twins or yourself? My doc will moniter me more, though she says I was healthy and another stillbirth would be unlikley. I will be induced at 37 weeks.
GL and sorry for your loss...

**All AL Welcome**
Our baby just had a fluke blockage in her brain that wasn't caused by anything...it just happened.
I recently had a MMC of twins at 8 weeks and my OB told me there was no need to see a MFM for that pregnancy because there wasn't anything really wrong with Bunny...however I had TONS of extra monitoring just because they were being super nice to me to curb my anxiety. Since I didn't really make it to my milestone (19 weeks) I don't know how much more monitoring I would've gotten for that. but I was going to ask for 2 anatomy scans...
I would talk to your OB and get their opinion. ((HUGS))

It does not sound awful at all. What you were going through at that moment was horrendous. I had my son at 20 weeks and for me, the last thing I wanted was for anyone to hurt him in any way.
As far as your original question - I had a preconception appointment with an MFM. I have other issues that put me in a high risk category but she did tell me that a late second term loss would have got me the referral on its own. It made me feel much better about TTC knowing we had a game plan in place.
(((hugs))) and I'm sorry for your losses.
