Cvs test

I had my first appointment today and I feel much more relaxed now that I saw a heartbeat. I was asked if I want to have the cvs test done at my next appointment. This is my first baby so I was wondering what other people's opinions are. My husband and I researching to make the best informed decision we can. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    I am curious about this as well. My friend keeps telling me I need to ask the dr about the CVS testing. Nobody at the dr office has yet to mention it to me yet.

    Why are they suggesting CVS?  Are you high risk for something specific?  Have you and your DH both tested positive for any genetic diseases?  CVS is invasive, and is usually only recommended out of medical necessity when non-invasive testing cannot yield the answers.  Did your doctor recommend a NT scan, quad screening or molecular screening such as MaterniT21 or Harmony?

    My doctor suggested this to me because my brother has a genetic disability but I declined. The reason I turned it down was because she explained that it did increase the risk of miscarriage. I went with less invasive testing.

    I just had my nuchal translucency test done today at 12 weeks. I was told only if that shows something high risk do we think about CVS or amnio. Seems strange they would suggest cvs first...
