Foods

I know some of you are doing BLW, but for those that aren't, are you starting to give your baby foods rather than just purees?

Owen has had soft foods (mashed potatoes, etc), but no real "finger foods" rather than puffs. I don't know if I should start introducing those now or when that is.

Should he be getting some at this point (the boy has 6 teeth!) or should I just stick with what I'm doing now?

LJ has no teeth and eats a bunch of stuff:

    1. Whatever we are eating

    2. avocados

    3. fruits like bananas, strawberries

    4. baby food we've made (chicken and sweet potatoes, pot roast with sweet potatoes)

    5. mixed veggies

    6. peas and carrots

    7. crackers

    8. puffs

    9. yogurt

  • Wow! Lots of teeth! I would do what you feel comfortable with. I give P almost everything we eat. I was more cautious with DD but by 8 months she was wanting everything we ate so this time I'm going for it. He can "chew" fine and has 2 teeth.
  • When I have made his purees lately, I haven't been blend it as much, so it's kinda chunky. I also give him over cooked wheat noodles, the 'guts' he sucks from the inside of grape tomatoes, chunky oatmeal. LO has no teeth yet. I did just buy gluten free, dairy free, nut free animal cookies and he has been sucking on those for a couple days now.

  • weve been doing:

    mum mums

    egg

    purees

    a little greek yogurt

I want to introduce meat but Im not sure how?  do you grind it up or is it chunky?

  • We are just getting started with feeding LO more foods that we eat all the time. His normal meals are staying the same, but now that he is able to eat puffs, I figured he could handle some other regular foods. So far we have tried small pieces of chicken, spaghetti, fries, broccoli, avocado, etc.

He had a hard time with anything involving pieces at first, but he has been doing much better since he started eating puffs. Now we try to offer a bite of almost every meal we have with him. He likes EVERYTHING!!

  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to start giving him a little bit more & seeing what he likes. So far, he has loved everything we have given him so I have no doubt that will change!
