Hi ladies,
I am gearing up to transition LO from the RNP. I have heard pretty terrible horror stories from others. For those that have done this already, how did it go? How did you do it? Most importantly, did your LO's sleep permanently change, or did s/he keep sleeping as well as they did before? I have finally gotten LO to sleep well (after starting with 1 hour stretches for weeks), and I am so nervous that this transition is going to bring us back to square one.
Re: RNP Transition
We couldn't get him transitioned until 4 months thanks to an ugly cold. But when he started to wiggle his way down and out of the RNP there was no other option. We had tried two times before but after a weekend of up every two hours I caved each time.
Finally, we picked a holiday weekend (a long weekend) and after three ugly nights of up every hour to every three hours...he finally slept from 7pm to 6am. It was amazing. Now he prefers to sleep in his crib even for naps, it's awesome.
My advice, be consistent, don't be afraid to let him/her cry a little bit. And we use an A&A security blanket. It's breathable and he uses it to sooth himself when he is restless. We also have baby pearl jam and baby weezer playing on an iPod all night...I'm not sure if it truly helps but since he sleeps so well I'm afraid to take it away!
Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

Same here. Wasn't hard for us at all. She indicated to us that she was ready to be out of the RnP and swaddle, we just followed her cues.
