Carrier help please

Hi ladies. My DD is 6.5m, 18lbs and around 27 or 28". I had been using a moby, but then she started to get mad that she couldn't see everything. I bought a Bjorne with lumbar support so I could at least still wear here to get groceries. Is there something better that would allow her to still see forward, even something on my hip with her hands free would work? I have a few issues though, I'm about a size 16, it's mainly in my belly, and I have scoliosis so I have to have something that won't put strain in one area. I've looked at the Gemini on amazon and the maya wrap. Would either work or would one be better? I'd like to use it for some time yet, I have a 6 year old that likes to go out and about and a stroller doesn't always work. She also gets annoyed if the stroller isn't moving.
TIA!

Re: Carrier help please

  • The Gemini would probably be much more comfortable for your back than a ring sling, and your DD can face out. It also provides better hip and leg support for her than the bjorn, so she will be more comfy in it too.

  • A hip carry on a ring sling is always a good idea. I personally am not a fan of forward facing at all. Have you thought of a mei tai or woven wrap and putting her on your back?

Forward facing is not a great idea because kids get overstimulated and have no place to hide and you can't seetheir face. They are much better off in a hip carry.

You can get a carrier like the scootababy or go for a more versatile carrier like a standard Kinderpack, a Bloo Kangaroo Kanga XT, Action Baby Carrier, or even an Ergo. Something like the Kanga XT is nice because the kiddo can see over your shoulder in a back carry and it will last you longer.
