DH and I love the name Maura, but DH has a completely different idea of the pronunciation of this name as it is spelled above. I think it's pronounced Maw-ruh or Mohr-uh. For some reason, he thinks it's pronounced Moy-ruh and says that his way is the "correct Celtic" pronunciation. I can't find anything on the interwebz to support his assertion. What say you, baby naming gurus?
Re: Pronunciation help!
Moira is pronounced MOY-ra. Maura is pronounced MAW-ra or MORE-ra

Moira (which I love BTW) https://www.pronouncenames.com/search?name=moira
Exactly this.
Thank you. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he was just confused on the spelling.

I feel like the name pronounced "Moy-rah" would be spelled Moira.
Maura is the same as Laura: most people pronounce it Mohr-uh, but a few pronounce it more like Maw-rah.
If he wants moy-ra, use Moira. Love it!
I know a Moira who pronounces it more-ah.
All Mauras around here are pronounced maw-ra.
I like Maura and love Moira... I don't think you can go wrong here!
