Seems like we need to hear about the other side! I've gained somewhere around 6-8 lbs so far (hard to tell because my bloat varies a lot).
Kinda got myself off on the wrong foot early on because I was reading all these books talking about nutrition, and how you need 5 servings of this, and 8 servings of that, and 4 servings of another thing, and 6 servings of whatever, and I thought, omg, I need to be eating MORE stuff, I need all this nutrition for my baby! It freaked me out into eating more than I would have normally. Then I got smart and realized that a "serving" is like 1/4 cup, and here I was eating 3/4 cup of broccoli, thinking it was one serving. must.eat.more.veggies! lol
Who else isn't having a problem putting on a few pounds so far?
Re: A post for those gaining weight...
I don't care about my pounds! As long as LO is growing and get what is needed I will keep eating! Of course I am not eating a cow! But I eat many times a day, small portions, fruits, vegetables, meat,... (and some junk food because I deserve to get out of it sometimes! lol)
This girl here, lol! With my first two it took a bit to start gaining because I was so, so sick. I gained about 15 with one and 20 with the other. At my 17 week appt with the MW, I'm up 10. I'm constipated, bloated and loaded full of water so I'm sure some of that is a factor here.
I'm still running and exercising thus far, eating really well (primarily vegetarian diet) so most of what I'm eating is plant based and very few processed foods. I've just always looked at it as my body will gain what it needs to as my baby grows (and that number is different for everyone woman!) so as long as I maintain a healthy lifestyle rather that "I'm eating for two so all my portions must double, even the chocolate sundae!" then I'll stay within the realm of only gaining the necessary weight rather than extreme excess.
Yep! Seems like every one I have read has been about "oh no, I haven't gained any weight!"....which it seems like the other ladies here get annoyed about. So why not have one for those of us who are gaining normal amounts, so we don't have to feel like we're fatties because all the other posts are about people who haven't gained anything?
If you didn't want to read it why open it... the title stated the obvious.
I've seen multiple posts about gaining too much, gaining too little and anything else weight related you could think of. It's been discussed up, down and sideways, to death. Everyone is free to post about what they want, obviously, but it is really becoming annoying. It's getting to a point of absurdity, in my opinion.
I had gained 2 pounds as of 10 weeks, but I also hadn't pooped in like four days at that point, so it could have been turd weight.
I'm not THAT worried about weight gain as long as my doctor says I'm normal. I haven't weighed myself since my 10 week appointment, so hopefully I don't get any nasty surprises when I go in two weeks from now.

Yes thank you for putting up this post. I keep reading about all these women who have only put on 1 or 2 pounds, or are not showing at all. I'm normally a small person but at 17 weeks have already put on 10+ pounds depending on the day, the bloat, and am have definitely started showing. It's freaking me out to see all these women due around the same time as me not gaining any weight. Makes me question if I'm eating too much, the wrong things? I'm trying to be as healthy as I can, sure I have given into ice cream cravings here and there, but am not stuffing my face or anything. So anyways this post helps, its good to see it's normal for me to gain weight at this stage since other women out there are too.

Seriously ... it's great that some of you are actually gaining weight. But everyone of us is different. Some of us have maintained or lost weight. I lost weight in my first tri, but have gained a little in this second tri. my appetite has gotten better and I'm able to get more food down. My diet for the first tri consisted of mostly cereal - I felt like I was in survival mode. As long as our doctors say we are doing fine and both momma and baby are healthy, then I don't think any of us have anything to worry about. My doctor was never concerned about my weight loss - she said is was normal, in fact. She's more concerned that I stay hydrated and that I'm keeping food down.
Thank you jesus someone else has gained 10 or more pounds. I have gained 10 pounds as of 16 1/2 weeks. I thought I was alone.
