Hi all, I'm 5 months along with my 2nd; DD is 18mo...she will be 22mo when the new LO arrives. I currently have an UppaBaby Vista, where you can attach a kickboard or a second seat.
Will that be good enough as a double stroller? Not sure what to expect for my daughter, who will be almost 2...I like the convenience of having her in a stroller and didn't realize the kids would be this close together. Am considering selling the Vista and getting the CitySelect as I've heard great things about its adaptability.
Thoughts on Vista vs. CitySelect? Thanks ladies!
Re: Do I need a double stroller, or is the Vista ok?
im in the exact same situation as you, OP. My son is 18 months and I'm 4.5 months pregnant. When I bought the uppababy vista for my DS, I didn't know anything about strollers. But everyone said the vista was the one to buy. Plus, you can change it to a double by buying the rumble seat. I didn't know, however, that the kids can only face you, and not outwards. My DS is a curious boy and likes to see what's going on around him. I'm leaning towards selling the vista and either getting the city select or the britax b ready double. I like the option of the different configurations. My DS is active and doesn't really like sitting in a stroller, but for my sanity, I need him sitting in a stroller, especially once the second baby is here. I do have a snap and go and I figure I'll use the SnG for now, and DS1 can walk when it's a quick trip. I figure I have at least 3-4 months after the new baby is here to decide. I'm also thinking to keep the vista, get the rumble seat and also get the city mini double or a double bob. It's hard for me to sell the Vista since we bought it brand new and I hate to lose money on it. Plus, it really is a nice stroller. Can you tell i'm still on the fence? I don't want to make a rash decision and then regret my choice.
Sorry this was such a long response. I probably didn't help much but those are my thoughts. I've also heard good things about the bumbleride twin and the valco double for side by sides but the city mini double is more affordable and the fold is really easy.
I had a Vista that I sold after DS was born. I miss it though and I'm not sure I made the right decision. It could not have been my one and only double though! We have a BOB Duallie for walks and stuff and now I have a Bugaboo Bee with an Englacha Junior X Rider. It works well but I could have easily kept the Vista and used it with the Rumble Seat for errands and stuff but I would have definitely still wanted a full side by side double for most of what we do. I really miss the bassinet and great basket of the Vista and it's nice to have a good single for when your older one wants to walk or you only have 1 child with you.
What I would do is hold onto the Vista and go ahead and buy a double. I agree with the PP that the City Select isn't great for rougher terrain so if that's a concern for you I would look into the BOB Duallie, Bumbleride Indie Twin, Valco Tri Mode Twin, etc. Then you would have a great double for longer outings and walks and the Vista for errands and stuff.
If you can, look for a used stroller. You really save a ton of money and often can find one that someone barely used and is in great shape. Then when you are done with it, you won't lose nearly as much money on it as you would if you had bought it new.
Wait until after LO2 is born to decide. We honestly did not use our double that often. It's just so much easier to wear LO2 and push LO1 in the single Maclaren or put LO2 in the stroller and LO1 walks.
Now that DD is 1yo we will probably just get a wagon and use that more.
