Just when you think they might never start to wean...

they surprise you. DS has always been waaaaay into nursing. I've been pushing him down to 3-4 x a day now that I'm very, very pregnant and he's over 2. The past couple of days, he's actually forgotten to ask for a couple feeds - like bedtime last night, and after work today! I think it will be a while longer before he gives up his morning nurse, but it's very encouraging to see him moving in the direction of weaning.

And really, all of us (including DH) would be fine with him keeping the morning nurse for a while longer. I'll be nursing the baby anyway, so no supply issues looming no matter how infrequently he nurses.

  • Nice! DS2 has been a lot better these past few weeks, too. He'll go for days without asking to nurse (though he's a little obsessed with patting my boobs, sigh. I'll take what I can get!).

  • I think my milk supply has finally crashed from this pregnancy - today after nursing, he chugged about 6 oz of WCM from his sippy. I'm hoping this is a natural, gentle way to encourage him toward weaning as honestly the idea of tandem nursing seems like it might be pretty exhausting. On the other hand, I don't want to do something big and traumatic this close to the birth, so we'll just play it by ear.
