Trouble TTC

Anyone have any sucess being AO?

I have never posted before because I have always been told, "stop trying and it will happen" so I don't really share my worries. I am 23 and have been diagnosed with anovulation. For those of you that don't know what that is I don't ovulate, at all on my own. I have gone two years at the longest and not had a period. I have an amazing doctor that I have only found in April and he got me on Provera which makes me have a period and in turn ovulate. I love this doctor he is really amazing. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 2 years because I knew I had problems. I would like to talk to some women who have the same issue and have a baby as a sucess story. Last week I started taking Metformin and hopefully in a week I will start Clomid. Anyone know about these personally? I googled and and found a lot of sucess stories but no one with anovulation. I haven't read anything helpful. Also just kind of an FYI I dont know all the abbreviations, I really thought I knew what I was doing until I started reading post and got lost because I write everything out.

  • If you want success stories, I would suggest reposting on Pregnant After Infertility. Most people here are still trying for their first.

Welcome and I'm sorry you find yourself here. Like you I can go a long time without a period without medicine like provera to induce it. I do have a couple questions for you. Are you seeing an RE? Have you had any tests done and if so what were they and what were the results? I'm assuming you also have PCOS with anovulation since you were put on metformin. Also, how do you know if the provera made you ovulate? Provera can help you get AF but doesn't help with ovulation.

As you can see by my siggie, I didn't have success to induce ovulation with clomid. I highly suggest you see an RE or reproductive endocrinologist if you aren't yet. Also, don't take clomid until you get all testing done including an HSG to make sure your tubes are open.

I wish you the best of luck!!!

This. My dx is also anovulatory but I don't have PCOS. I was on Femara, instead of Clomid. But it's the same idea. I needed a trigger shot that actually helps me release the egg.
More importantly, will you be monitored on Clomid? It is a very serious medication that, without proper monitoring, can cause ovarian cysts, thinning if the uterine lining, or high order multiples.
    GL and welcome!

i am pcos and annovulatory. I have had a successful pg with 5 mg femara, an hcg trigger, and TI. My re prefers femara to clomid because there are less side effects, fewer but supposedly higher quality eggs, and it does not thin the lining. I had another pregnancy with this protocol recently but miscarried. I also take 2000 mg a day of met. You are more than welcome to PM me for any questions!

  • I do not have a actual RE because I was seeing one who kind of made me hate myself and with my insurance I can only see her or another woman in her office who is equally evil. Both told me I was to fat and would never have children, didn't test me, or anything just told me no so I have an amazing dr now that will do anything had has in a 40 year career only have three women that he was unable to get pregnant within a year of doing everything he says and only 1 out of those three still can not have children. As far as HSG I am trying hard for the test. My insurance does not cover it but we don't think I have blockage because I have had a miscarriage at 13 and 16 weeks.
