  My little girl is 7.5 months old. I'm a new mom and a stay at home mom, and am new to my area, so my baby isn't around other babies very often. How important is it to socialize babies this young? Does anybody have any ideas of ways to socialize her? I've been taking her to book readings at Barnes and Noble once a week but all the kids are much older than her. She still enjoys watching them though.
  

  I think socializing is important. Some argue that now is too young to make a difference but I say "what does it hurt?" Are there any mommy and me classes or church groups/ activities (if you go to church)?

  While I don't think it will hinder your baby I think it's good for them. I didn't have any friends with kids or who were home. So I went to our library infant story time though we now visit a few libraries and BN as well, but it is definitely geared to 3 and up. Then I joined a mom's meet up group. At one play date one mom said "I'd like to get to know a group if women and kids, not new people all the time." So we formed our weekly date there. Dd was 8 months at the time, it was 2.5 years ago. Most of us have added round two of the play group. It's been my sanity. I highly suggest it!   I am in similar situation. All my LO's cousins are significantly older and all my friends had babies years ago. No one my LO's age. 

  I went in meetup.com and found some local playgroups. Also found a group called Stroller strides....it's s fitness class with the babies. Went to two so far and loved it! Loved meeting other moms and babies my LO's age!

  Check out your local library for baby lap sit story times. My LO loves going to this every week and loves to watch the other babies.
