Success after IF

Anyone seen my mind?!?!?

Because I have clearly lost it.

LO turned 12 weeks on Sunday and has done a 180. She was sleeping stretches of 5-7.5 hours.....and has now gone 4 or less for the past 4 nights. And she's currently crying through the time of day when she typically takes her longest nap.

on top of that, she's on the boob 24-7. Seriously. Every hour, at least.

im really upset because this is my last week of maternity leave and I hate that it's ending on such a bad note AND - I was hoping to build up my freezer stash and I can't get a freaking thing out because she's literally sucking me dry.

Help. Advice. Anything!?!?!

Re: Anyone seen my mind?!?!?

  • i'm sorry you're experiencing this!

IMO could be a couple things: a growth spurt possibly. or her schedule could just be changing. what is she doing during the day? i'm guessing around 3 months she's awake for about 1.5 hours at a time? maybe her sleeping habits are changing and she's needing a nap at a different time.

honestly our babies were sleeping long stretches around 2.5 mos and then around 3.5 mos started the "wakeful" period. it got a lot better however we struggled for a while with wake times/sleeping at night, etc. throw in that our DS got two teeth and we were pulling our hair out. hang in there - i know it sucks. but just keep watching her signals - rubbing the eyes, fussy, yawning, etc. if she needs to sleep at a time that isn't "normal" let her. she might be adjusting to a new schedule. GL!

I'm sorry you are having a rough patch. I agree that it's probably a growth spurt. If you can, pass her to someone else and take a little time for yourself. Remember that this too shall pass!

Oh dear! It's probably a growth spurt and will pass. Just keep feeding her when she's hungry.nbsp; []
ETA: and squeeze in a beer between one of your feedings.nbsp; On really hard days, I'd have one in the afternoon and wouldn't feel guilty about it.nbsp; Cheers.nbsp; Beer

All of this. And make yourself some lactation cookies. Oatmeal chocolate chip were my favs and I ate a dozen under the pretense of increasing my supply. But, really, they just tasted so good.

I'm sure it's the 3 month growth spurt. It will pass. I agree with a beer and lactation cookies. Don't worry about your stash, all you need is enough for the first day. You got this!

i am a freak of nature.....the days I drink beer do nothing to help with supply....and yet when I had AF a few weeks ago I had the most successful results with pumping. It's maddening.

she sleeps and eat on an on demand schedule so I always let her sleep when the cues are there. However she is fairly consistent with a solid morning nap, up anytime btwn 930 and 11 and a shorter afternoon nap.... The cues are all there, but she is waking herself up every time she falls asleep. It's brutal.

  • I vote a growth spurt. They are not easy to go through at times. Hang in there mama. What helped me was to just focus on LO and nothing else. No laundry, cooking, etc.

Mine too. It's the brewer's yeast, flax seed meal, and oats that do the trick. FWIW, this is the only thing that made any difference in my supply. Enjoy!!

Thanks Ruthie! I will definitely make these over the weekend. I want to be able to give her BM until she can have rice cereal or until the 4 month/Aug 1 timeframe. No real reason just my goal.....but I know to make this happen I need to get a better supply going for pumping.

    Thanks for the help.....mobile smiley

Very very very happy to report that LO just woke up to eat after 8 hours....eight!!!!!!! Her longest stretch to date. Here's hoping the spurt......::that's what I think it was too::.....is behind us..
