Parenting after a Loss

Miracle blanket lovers

I tried swaddling DD this past week and her sleep has greatly improved. She went from 2 wake ups to 1 and now pretty much none! I'm so happy and grateful for each night that she does well.

I've been using the swaddle me sacks and I know many of you love the miracle blanket. She has broken her arms free from the swaddle a couple of times. She also is a little inch worm. She turns herself sideways or does a complete 180 at times. So...since the miracle blanket doesn't have Velcro or snaps, will it come lose when she's inch worming?

It's seriously like a baby straight jacket. It's amazing!

So true. My mom watched me put it on P one night and got all worked up... until she saw her get calm in like 30 seconds and go to sleep!

Ha! The swaddle already seems like a straight jacket!

It's the arm panels that freak people out, but they're the magic makers! We got to the point where we just laid the girls on the MB and they'd relax. Within 5 min of swaddling them they'd be peacefully sleeping. Btw I'm so glad you've been able to get some more sleep!

It feels a little weird the first time you are "pinning" your child's arms, but once they settle and get good sleep, it is easy to quickly get over it :)

  • Like everyone's already said, it's the arm panels.  It works wonders!  I do have to say though that DD hated it the first few times.  I'd get her all "pinned down" and the screaming would start.  I'd immediately take it all off and hold her to comfort her.  I threw the blanket in the corner of the room after that and didn't use it again for a whole month.  I was afraid I wasted my money.  Then she started getting out of the swaddle in less than 5 mins, and I knew it was time to try again.  This time, it did settle her and we've been using it ever since.

You all make very convincing arguments.

  • If you already have a swaddleme or something similar and I'd assume you have some sort of receiving blanket around I'd recommend trying this:

I did this for a while when DD started getting her arms out of her swaddle and it worked wonderfully.

Yep, this is what we used with DD and it kept her swaddled for 5m.

What!! This is genius! I can't believe I never thought of or knew about this!

I actually found it by accident a few months back when DD was breaking out of her swaddle and I was looking into the miracle blanket thanks to some suggestions on here,
