First foods

Curious, what were the first 3-5 foods you started feeding your LO?

  • DD loves peaches, west potatoes, pears and squash. She likes bananas, apples and carrots and she tolerates green beans but hated peas! We also do oatmeal or yogurt with her in the morning!

  • Avocado (he preferred it mixed with milk), white rice cereal, pears (he found these sour), carrots and loves his pumpkin.

  • We did a little rice cereal just to test if he was ready - it was easier to thin down and I didn't want to make purees until he was ready. He mostly spit it all out, so I just tried once a week until it clicked. Then I switched and started making purees: sweet potato, squash, pears and prunes (helped with constipation), banana, avocado, and apple.

  • Peas (but we had to go back to them because she refused them), carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans and broccoli. We gave veggies a good month and a half before I started with bananas, pears and applesauce. I figured if my LO's anything like me, her sweet tooth will over power her desire for vegetables lol
  • We have been doing oatmeal cereal since he was 5 months old. Two weeks ago we tried green beans (he hated them) and then switched to carrots and then tried squash, both he loved. Next we'll try green beans again or maybe peas...we also have sweet potato too. My goal is try all the vegetables before trying fruits....although I will feed him prunes or pears if he seems constipated from the veggies.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

We did the following, so far:

    avocado
    sweet potato
    banana
    zucchini
    pumpkin
    green beans
    applies
    oatmeal

I add cinnamon to the sweet potato, apples, and pumpkin sometimes and I'll mix applies and banana into the oatmeal.

Planning to do broccoli, pears, mango, and brown rice cereal soon.

  • We tried steamed broccoli (likes), cucumber strips (she LOVED to suck on them), and a tater tot (she INSISTED b/c DH was eating one and she wouldn't leave him alone till he shared). She ended up eating a little of the broccoli, but she hasn't really eaten anything else yet, just gummed it then spit it out, but she seems to enjoy trying things.
