Baby Names

Jace vs. Atticus

We jus can't decide on which name!

Jace or Atticus

Re: Jace vs. Atticus

  • Wow-- those seem like two totally different name styles to me.

Atticus gets my vote, but if you were going with Jason, NN Jace, I would pick that in a heartbeat.

    I agree.

Honestly neither are my style but I would choose Atticus over Jace any day of the week.

  • Neither

If I *had* to pick, I'd pick Atticus. I hate Jace

  • I LOVE, love, LOVE Atticus!!! We told my family early on we loved that name got many negative responses, so I felt we couldn't use it. I think it's a great name, seems like it is popular on this board, but I don't see as many positive responses IRL.

I totally see it as a name a child grows into!

  • Wow, these seem opposite end of the spectrum.

    Atticus hands down.
  • Please don't name your child Atticus. It makes me think of To Kill a Mockingbird. I've never heard of a Jace though and it seems really cute and would age well.
  • Jace. I can't picture calling a child Atticus. What would his nn be?

To me, Jace is on the same line as a name like Brynnlee.

  • One hundred percent Jace for me!

Not a fan of either, but of the two, Jace, hands down.

Yea. Atticus creeps me out a little.

I agree with pp that these are strikingly different styles.

My son is Atticus. I find it strong, handsome, and evocative of the many great qualities of Mr. Finch.

FWIW, the response we get is about 25 percent compliments and 75 percent blank stares.

    Atticus a million times over!

Jace just makes me think of Teen Mom. I find it juvenile and nicknamey. It makes me cringe.
    Exactly.

Jace is a disaster of a name, just go with Jason.

  • Wow, really different names there. No would assume that the parents of an Atticus read books and the parents of a Jace didn't. I like books. So I vote for Atticus.

Why is that a bad thing?

    I second this question.

Yeah I'm scratching my head over that comment too. If you've read the book and have even the most basic reading comprehension skills, you would know how ridiculous that statement is.

Also, how can Jace be "really cute" and at the same time be a name that would "age well"? You make no sense at all.

I don't like Jace at all; go with Atticus (although I like Atticus more as a mn).
  • iEricaiErica member
I actually like both quite a lot.  But Atticus more, you don't hear it often.
  • OMG what a span!  Jace I can't help but think Teen mom  and it sounds perpetually immature.   Atticus- although I love TKAM  just seems a bit hipster or trying too hard   but between the two I would have to go with Atticus
  • Definitely Atticus

Same assumptions here. Jace = teen mom, Atticus = great literature
