Is Thea trendy?

Would you consider the name Thea to be trendy? I think is has a kind of classic ring to it, but just wondering what people think who aren't as partial as I am.

Re: Is Thea trendy?

  • No, it's not trendy.

    not in the least
  • No. I went to high school with a Thea but she pronounced it like Leah.
  • I haven't met anyone with this name, so definitely not trendy!
  • I was shocked to see this post because my first name is Thea and I've never met another Thea in my life. I pronounce my name like Thea in "Thea-ter". I often get compliments on my name. People stating that it's pretty and unique. Never had someone go "what the heck, Thea?!" I love my name and am proud of how unique it is. I also must mention that I am half Greek too, so usually all Greeks and close nationalities can point out half my nationality. I will tell you, that it can be extremely frustrating sometimes with the miss-pronunciation of my name. (But that could just be a pet peeve ;-) ) I would say it's classic, not trendy.
  • Not trendy, but actually pretty cool. I like it!

I knew two Theas in college but I definitely wouldn't say it's a trendy name.

Not trendy. I really like it! I know two IRL, a 5 year old and a 23 year old. Oh, and let's not forget about the character on Arrow :

That show is where I heard it too and I loved it instantly!

I pronounce it the same way, and actually am not fond of it pronounced the other way. I think this will be the perfect name for us though, so if occasional mispronunciation is the price, then I'm okay with that. I thank you for your input. It's nice to hear from someone who has the name and that you really love it. Hopefully our DD will feel the same way!
