Can a 16 month old sleep in twin bed with rail?

Currently she sleeps in our bed, but she has decided to sleep sideways and kick my husband out of bed.

We currently have a crib and a twin bed in her room. She sleeps in the crib for a few hours at the begining of the night (falls asleep nursing then I put her in there).

Now I am thinking maybe I should put her in the twin bed so we can nurse there and when she wakes up she will be where she fell asleep, but not sure if that is safe. She can safely get off the bed by herself.

Any other ideas?

  • I think the bedrail should be fine. We use a bedraik on our bed for DS.

Have you thought about removing the twin's bed frame and putting the mattress directly on the floor?

  • My son was a few months older than that when we started but it worked fine.

  • Yea I thought about it, but we are kinda tight on space and currently have stuff stored under the bed and nowhere else to store the bed frame, I could just put the mattress in the middle of the floor I guess.
  • Yea I guess I could imagine that but her room is babyproofed and I would have the monitor on
  • My DS would never sleep in his crib. We switched him to a bed very early...14 months. I super baby proofed his room and put a gate in his door. Sleep has dramatically improved. I really think he just hated the crib.
