Hi - I have a question for those with LOs on soy formula and solids. Have you tried yogurt? We had a rough start with LO and ultimately switched her to soy because she was not doing well with the regular and sensitive formulas. That being said - I am reluctant to try yogurt but was curious if others had experience with this situation. I spoke with ped and he said we could try a little bit or hold off till 12 mo.
Has anyone tried yogurt of cheese with LO on soy? success or disaster?
Re: For those on soy formula - Re: Solids
I am not on soy formula with DD2, but DD1 was on it. She could eat yogurts and cheeses, but only a certain amount. Maybe like yogurt no more than 2 times a week, and cheese no more than one slice a day, if I remember correctly.
But, these types of dairy products have a different processing technology. So, they are all made of dairy, but some may be high allergens due to higher lactose levels, and some may not.
It's really trial and error. I would give my LO a dairy product, see how she reacted, and if she got too much I would cut back. Because, ironically, cheese and yogurt were her two favorite foods.
We have been on soy formula since LO was 2 weeks old, and we also drink soy, not cows milk at home. As far as yogurt goes we have done whole fat plain soy yogurt (not easy to find in my area) which kinda tastes like sour cream, and recently discovered the joys of coconut milk yogurt. It's no delish that LO and I often eat it together
He eats a little cheese, usually no more than the equivalent to two string cheese sticks per week .
