I plan on using one. My friend has just become one and I would definitely like her there to coach me through. I know DH will be overwhelmed with all that is going on. He must stay NORTH of the waist and he's happily fine with that.
Just curious if you have used one in the past and what your experience was like?
Would you consider using a doula?

Re: Doula - ?
My epidural didn't fully work with DD, so I'm strongly considering going without this time to reduce the length of my labour. I pushed for 3 hours with DD.
If it happens again, I need a coach to get me through.

I used a doula with my first pregnancy and am glad I did. But DH was still my primary support. Our doula supported both of us and served as a "translator" between us and the medical staff.
I will say, it's completely unrealistic to think your DH will "stay north of the waist" and honestly, you won't care while you're in labor.

Of course we won't know until that day comes. However, DH was never interested in that aspect of this. He has said he doesn't want to be on the business end of things.
I would HIGHLY reccomend it, even if you are just thinking about going natural. But even with an epidural it can help a lot and also they help incorporate dad so he feels helpful and a part of the process as well!
Also it's show that the support of a doula can significantly decrease labor time and also severity of labor.
Hope that helps :
I don't think you could ever regret a doula
