I'm going to start weaning off breast milk within the next two weeks. My biggest concern is he falls asleep on the breast. Anyone else deal with this? How did you handle it?
My first step was to break the association. When DD was getting drowsy, I unlatched her and then held her close and rocked. I usually just pulled my shirt down. This took a few days. Then I introduced a night time bottle. She was already used to them but we usually did a bottle then nurse to sleep. So I switched things up and nursed first and then gave a bottle. She really didn't put up much of a fight. I think it's because we took things slowly. And did lots of cuddling/rocking to replace the nursing time. Good luck!
